I am going to need new tires soon on my 17 1500
what is everybody running. Note this is a highway driver
no off roading or towing, just my daily driver.
I have the goodyears that came on it and have 59,000
miles on these.

I’m almost in your position but I only have 29k on the original SRA’s. Can’t believe you got 59k out of them.

I have 27k on my original Goodyear Wranglers, and I think I've got another at least 15K to go. However I do carry heavy loads in the bed. In my old truck sometimes I'd only get 30k out of a set of tires, and it's highway only. I also find it hard to believe you could get 60k out of them.

I think for your needs the Michelin Defender LTX M/S would be a great tire for you. I currently have them on my RAV4 and love them. They have great traction in all weather conditions, quiet, and have been wearing very well.

Tires and oil threads will always live :)
What price range you looking at ?
All season ? I avoid All Season tires because of the snow up here!
Snow only ?
AT/S? Because I can run Year round
AT ? Not for me,because the rubber compound is different then snow rated AT/S
I have a set of Good Year AT/S tires on mine now ! A light duty tire (IE;4 play) That is fine for me as my RAM is a street queen :) Have about 5 k on them and si far like them in rain, snow and dry payment ! No noise and smooth riding ! FYI I also did like my SRA's :O
I would also go to Tire Sight s like Tire Rack ,Discount tire and the brand of tire you are looking at and Read the reviews !
Also search Tires in the search box as there is a ton more of hands on reviews for members here who off their first hand experience !

Michelin Defender’s. I got them in November and they have been excellent with wet traction and snow covered roads (mild N.East winter, nothing deep). Highway dry roads have been superb (ride, noise, response, etc..). 70K warranty. My needs were similar to you.

My OE Goodyear had plenty of tread, but they were so poor in rain / wet roads I could not wait any longer. I was satisfied with the GY on dry roads and highway, but add a drop of water and it was game over.

I ditched the SRA's at 16,000 miles, just too scary in the rain. I put cooper Discover AT3 4S and love them, got me through 20 inches of snow with ease, great in the rain, super quiet, great highway tire. Very happy with, went stock size, truck looks so much better

I put those on my truck last summer after seeing some recommendations here on the website. I only have maybe 5K miles on them but so far they have been great in the rain, miles better than the Goodyears and comparable to the Michelin LTX M/S I had on my previous RAM. Pretty inexpensive too, I paid less than $600 out the door with lifetime balance and road hazard from WM. Just a word of advice, if you don't need them right away the price on these fluctuate like a SOB(on Walmart.com anyway) so just check online everyday for about a week and you might be able to save some serious coin. I paid $109 each for mine and watching them for a couple weeks the price jumped around by like $50 per tire which is crazy!

Oldish thread here but was the latest "stock replacement" tire thread. Tidefan, are you talking about the Cooper Discoverer AT3s mentioned above? If so man they have gone up in price! $206 if I have the correct tire below.

I went with the Michelin Defender LTX M/S which have about 30k miles on them and they are about done. I would have expected a little more miles out of them but I'm also a lead foot. All in all, they have been good and were an improvement over the factory Goodyears. The only complaint is in fast cornering, it seems a little more loose like the sidewalls are rolling over more.

I also have a 17' crew cab that is also a highway queen with no towing and no off road. Living in Fla and rotated every 5,000 miles and used the Goodyear warranty for a partial credit of the first replacement set at 25000 miles. The second set like the same thing after 25000. I can't believe how crappy they hold up.
Watching this thread for replacement road tire recommendations without suspension or rim changes.

For the Op who says he doesn't do any off-roading it would be tough to beat those Michelins.
They are kind of pricey but they perform very well for what they are designed for.

I was looking at getting the Michelins after reading about them here, but after talking to the manager at Discount Tires and doing some online digging, I got the Continental Terrain Contact H/T. very quiet and much better then the SRAs that were on the truck when I got it. They were also cheaper than the Michelins.
