I recently purchased a beater as it's the only thing I can afford at the moment. I fixed the exhaust, a found the intake manifold bolts on the driver side need attention soon. With the truck being quieter I can hear what else is going on and it sounds like my transfer case is humming, faintly but noticeably. Or it may be the new tires I have on there. If worse comes to worst, how do I go about finding info on the original t case that goes with the truck? I heard it's possible to install the wrong one and cause major issues.

If it turns out to be the transfer case, just pull it out and fix it. They are not difficult.
