Hi All,

I'm heading into the dealership to (hopefully) pick up my RAM 1500 today. If there was a time to try and wheel'n'deal for a Mopar hard folding cover, it would likely be today, though I find precious little review info on the cover, it's features, etc. BakFlip, on the other hand, appears to be fairly popular. I'm eyeing up the MX4, though the F1 also looks good.

Thoughts? Would you recommend the BakFlip over the Mopar? And if so, MX4 or F1 ( I have no real experience with aluminium vs fibre-glass ).

Thanks,
Yak

I have the bakflip fibermax. I like it but they had to ship me a whole new cover as the first one the seam was separated between the panels and leaked. No big deal after I got the new one. Looks good. I prefer the low profile type myself over the ones that sit on top of the rails

I like the look of the BakFlip - but mine leaks and I can't get a response from support.

my previous truck was a F150 and I opted for the dealer branded hard folding cover. Come to find out it's a Bakflip cover that they rebranded. I had issues with the cover and the dealer wouldn't lift a finger to try and help.

If i were going to buy another cover, I would go to the manufacturer rather than the dealer. I assume you would have much better chance of getting support than you would from a dealer.

My BakFlip VP is now over 3 1/2 years old and holding up. I had a Mopar folding cover on 2008 and it didn't fold fully like the VP does so I'm not sure if they fully fold now. That should be one of the functional issues that should be considered in your decision.

Thanks, guys. Hmm...ok, so BakFlip may not be the obvious choice here. More research needed then. Thanks for sharing!

Check out encore. They have a model that’s cool. Flips towards the cab or the other way. Had one on a previous truck and kind of miss it.

I just ordered the undercover UltraFlex and was contemplating a G2 or MX4. Get a quote from Tonneau Covered, then have AutoAnything beat it. They will beat it by 10-15 bucks or so.
