Cool? Not cool?

Do they increase fuel mileage like I have heard?

Hinged, folding, what kind do you use and why?

I'm on the fence on this, originally was going to buy one just to keep smaller stuff dry but don't know anything about them.

I have a folding hard cover. I wanted the security of the hard cover over the soft ones. I also wanted to be able to fit taller items in the bed when needed without having to remove the whole cover.
I didn't notice any change in mileage when I have my cover installed.

It would help gas mileage but not drastically.

I have a truxedo deuce two, and I like it. Rolls up completely out of the way and allows you to put a side in toolbox on the bed cover rails

Extang solid fold. I've seen no change in gas mileage.

Ive had the Extang Trifecta for 3.5 years, LOVE it, can tri-fold back if I need to move something, or take on and off in 2-3 minutes.

Mythbusters did this years ago (mpgs). The tonneau didnt do any difference to the mpgs. Only thing that helped was a net instead of the tailgate. But who wants that??

I have the RetraxOne retractable. Had it for about 3 months. It does take up about 6 inches of space in the bed but it is a hard lockable cover and I can see out the back glass when open. Worth the money IMO. No complaints so far.

It depends on your budget and preference. Personally, I like the functionality of the hard folding covers because they are secured and allow you to access the truck bed easily.

I really like the one piece colour matching fibreglass cover but it is almost the priciest way to go, maybe the priciest. I am on my second one, 1500 for my red 2010 Sport rcsb and 2300 for my 14 Sport rcsb.

The problem with these is lets say you are out somewhere and you surprisingly need to haul something, you are stuck. With a folding hard/soft cover, you can at least fold it up in the forward position (or even take it completely off and carry it in the bed).
