Does anyone know anything about the Cummins bagged injector line sets on ebay that go for ~60 bucks? Are they counterfeit? New old stock (not updated)? They look legit, but 60 bucks vs. 560 bucks for lines from Cummins...they can't be genuine can they? But for a single use part I may have to replace again "soon" anyway, I'm tempted to risk it.

I'm collecting parts for a fuel system refresh. I have a new Bosch rail and a new Bosch CP3 already ordered. I need new injector lines, and a new lift pump. I'm on the fence when it comes to injectors. There is nothing wrong with them that I know of. The only reason I'm doing the refresh is the hard lines are 20 years old and starting to rot. I'm thinking do the supply part this year and the injectors "later". But 560 bucks for "temporary" does not compute.

Back to the lines on ebay, what gets me is how genuine they look to someone (me) that doesn't know what they are supposed to look like. I mean why go to all that trouble of making the lines, printing the bags, creating the sets and then sell them for only 60 bucks?

Well, I wouldn’t buy anything for my Cummins from eBay or Amazon. But hey, it’s your truck.

I had a friend bought “Bosch” injectors for his boat engine and could not get it to run without misfire till he swopped out injectors. Absolute garbage. And yes, they looked exactly like genuine article, down to packing labels. Until you examined them closely next to real thing.
Bit like”Levoi” jeans or even “Katerpillar” boots

Asking, in an open, online forum, persons relatively unknown to you (like me and 99% everyone else responding) about a “deal” on another open, online website …. merely gives wider audience to the “deal” (if they are genuine) and, even if counterfeit, gives greater attention to what may be a cheap alternative. Either way, as a potential purchaser it offers greater competition for you, but provides no guarantee of quality.
This thread certainly helps the seller market his product.
What better assurance could I / We provide you that the 900+ positive reviews on that auction-site reflect about that product and it’s seller?
How much actual “Risk” can a $65 investment be in all-metal fuel lines?
If I needed a set…I’d buy ‘em.
But I’m not you with “rotted” lines and on a budget .

I WAS (still am) the owner of a 2014 Yamaha F150 outboard with only 180 hours on it, that sat for two years with “stabil-ized” fuel…. and when I put it in the water this last summer it ran like krap…wouldn’t run wide-open and acted like it was running on 3 cyls.
I took it to the dealer who sold it to me (and who is the only people ever to work on it) “Horseshoe Bay Marine”, and I told them it acted like it had a dead cylinder.
$1500 later they told me they had changed the spark plugs, run it in the lake where it acted like it was running on 3-cylinders…..and they wouldn’t do anything more on it because I had added an auxillary fuel tank to the boat and their “insurance” wouldn’t let them work on altered boats.
I reminded them I’d informed their service writer about that aux fuel tank when I first brought it to them but they accepted the job anyway.
“Sorry about that”

Anyway….the point is that I suspected bad injectors so I went online at the dreaded Amazon and ordered a Complete Set of FOUR injectors for …wait for it….a suspicious $40 for four.
(Genuine Yamaha injectors are $160 EACH.)

Second day later, I installed the exact-look-alike injectors…put the boat in the water….where it now runs like a Scalded-Ape! (The Chinese have been known forever to be excellent copiers…. and they likely make them for Yamaha anyway. I’d be willing to bet some worker in the factory has a brother with an on-line parts-business. The ONLY difference I could see was the O-rings that came in the pkg were different, so I re-used the originals.)

Well, I decided to just go with a full injector package from a reputable dealer that comes with lines and gaskets etc. and do the work all at the same time, but that purchase will have to wait until spring. I reached out to the previous owner who confirmed the injectors had never been replaced, so it's time.

Nothing is ever easy and a job that should take a day usually takes me a week, so I'll probably get it done in 2. Days are too short and I'll be working outside, so probably April.

Only buy critical parts from a known source.

One example of counterfeit parts: https://fordauthority.com/2022/10/ford-files-trademark-infringement-lawsuit-over-counterfeit-parts/

If it sound too good to be true………

So I was asking mostly because I was looking for a temporary replacement. I only needed them to be reliable for a total of maybe 12? hours of running time. My real concern was the 23k PSI.

After looking at the work involved in replacing the lines, it would be stupid on my part not to do the injectors at the same time. But since the place I'm going to buy them from has a 60 day core return limit, that job will have to wait until spring.

Probably the smart play. I didn't weigh in since I don't know anything about those specific parts, but I'd say just because the picture shows OEM packaging doesn't mean the picture is legit or the parts inside are OEM. I got sold counterfeit ball joints in OEM packaging while living abroad *from an auto parts store in person*. Lots of countries aren't as stringent about customer protection, patents, etc. as we are. I had to go to the Isuzu dealership and order them to (mostly) guarantee real parts.

So, my fuel system refresh has grown to include the power steering and hydroboost components. Might even do the water pump while I'm at it. Figured it will be easier to get to everything if I just pull everything off the front including the radiator. It's time to change out the coolant anyway.
In my quest for OEM parts at the best price, it's become painfully clear that you are gambling on what you get unless you can go into a dealership and get the part and even then, you are trusting them.
Seems like every online store is just a different front end for the same set of suppliers unless you are going to the manufacturer's web store. If you contact them about a late shipment, they have to contact some other "order fulfillers". It could be the same 5 people with 20 different online storefronts.

One store has a payment info skimmer redirect that started popping up a few days after I had made my last purchase from them. I'm hoping that issue didn't affect me (thanks Norton AV). I emailed them about it but got no response which got me thinking, how do you know that's not part of their gig? It sucks because I had decided to buy one of their injector packages. After a week of continued warnings every time I went to their site, I stopped browsing. I'll spend my 2600 bucks elsewhere.
