I am looking for some feedback from those that have or have had a TonnoPro Tri-Fold Hard Cover. The one I am looking at is all aluminum with a vinyl top covering offering a no hinge look and protection from hail dents. Everyone is quick to overlook TonnoPro and recommend Bakflip but why? I can get the TonnoPro for just under $500 and I could definitely spend the extra $200-$300 that the Bakflip costs on other mods or even fuel! I also prefer the slightly raised look of the TonnoPro over the super low profile Bakflip.

So if you own a TonnoPro Hard Cover, let me know how you like it and how it is holding up!

Here is link to the product video...

Yeah, I like the classic look of the smooth vinyl without the Conestoga wagon ribs but I really want the durability of the solid aluminum panels! Best of both worlds on the HF-251!

One thing I like better about the Tonnopro immediately is that you can open and close the tailgate without having to open the cover.

I like this as well!

Bakflips are nice but I can't see the extra cost for a very similar product!

i looked into tonno pro before i bought my cover. decent for the price but what i found the only complaint is that they are a little flimsy/cheap. i didnt care much for the vinyl look either. i went with the extang solid fold. very nice and sturdy. im 250lbs and ive walked on the cover and its strong.

Do you have any pictures of the EXTANG on the truck? how is the alignment and seal holding up?

Pepole recomended the backflip bc its made in america, tonnopro is china. So even tho the quality of tonnopro is decent the American made stuff is still better and cost more bc things made in America cost more to make.

I got the tonnopro low roll pro bc of money and im happy with the product. IF I had the money to spend or was getting it as a gift I would get the backflip as I know it's the best.

dont really have any good pics. i could take some. the alignment is as good as you set it. ive gotten pretty good at getting it straight quickly. as far as the seal goes, i would say its the same as every other tonno ive had. pretty good at keeping the bed decently dry but water still gets in. i suspect most comes in around the tail gate. if i added a tailgate seal im sure it would be better but its good enough for me.

I'm not really concerned about water seeping in because my be is line x'ed but water resistant is more what I'm concerned with. I like the idea of the BAKflip G2 but their warranty is pathetic for the prize they charge. Tonnopro has a 10 yr limited with lifetime on craftsmanship but not against extreme conditions unforeseen damage etc.
the extang looks nice but seems to be a tonnopro hard fold type design easy on and off, where the BAKflip doesn't come off so easily BUT it folds out of the way completely possibly losing a small bit of space up front but not much.
Honestly I am leaning towards the BAKflip now even with the useless warranty because of all the good reviews I've seen on here however I am concerned about the product holding up in cold weather having ICE damage the joints but the vinyl top style would have the same issues being damaged by inclement weather.

the only bad thing ive head about the bakflip is that the aluminum isnt that durable and dings easily. the only other downside to the bakflip is that when you have the bed completely open the back window is blocked. i thought that might get annoying. the tonno pro hard cover has vinyl over it and i didnt care for that. the extang comes off in under a minute if needed, and once you do it a few times you can put it back on straight very quickly. overall im happy with it. only thing i would replace it with would be the factory hard cover because of the lower profile.

I like the sleek look of the Bakflip better than the others. I figured maybe I would rhino-line the cover to make it more durable leaving only the joints exposed. Does the factory hard cover fold up?
