tow light stays on

Hey, need help. My tow light comes on when I start the truck. I have to cut off engine, Hold brake peddle down and restart. It will stay off till I get where I am going and turn it off. Then I have to do the same thing again. Yes, it does feel as if the tow is engaged when light is on, I can tell the difference in the pull and shifting as I drive. No, the control (dash button) does not turn it off and on. Yes, I have rechecked the plug in the back of the control (where the button is) making sure the pins are not bend and it is properly connected. I am thinking of resetting the computers by disconnecting the battery, but I want to hear from some pros on this before fracking up my system.... any ideas....
