I have a 2017 6.7L 2500 w/ 90K and my cruise control was been erratic since about 40K or so. At first the computer wouldn't recognize I was trying to initiate cruise control (wouldn't turn on or even recognize I pushed the button). Eventually after 5 to 20 minutes it would behave. Most recently it said Cruise was on and would let me set the speed but it wasn't actually engaging. I let off the accelerator and I being slowing immediately although it says I'm set for 65mph. Any thoughts? I hate computers (the one I'm typing on included!).

Hold the plus and minus gear buttons for 10 seconds or so and see if it fixes it.

Lots of posts over the years about the buttons on the steering wheel sporadically not working. Such as hitting the "cruise on" button and nothing happening. My '16 does that about 25% of the time, and a couple smacks on the steering wheel right above the buttons almost always makes it work. So a loose connection or bad switch, but a lot of people talk about this. Typically it is only the cruise on/off button and you can set the speed and accel or decel, but every once in awhile those don't work. Though I've never had an issue where it showed the speed was set but wouldn't actually maintain that speed.

I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Larime with 72k, currently have 3 dash lights on, the brake ABS,and traction control. Will this help my cruise control from working, won't even turn on. Any advise is welcome.

Yes, cruze won't work. Does horn snd everything else work? I doubt manual gear shift buttons work either. Need to identify all codes present.

Yes, that definitely stops cruise from working.

Thanks for this info. The horn and gear shift buttons work. Going to replace all 4 wheel speed sensors to see if it clears the code , if not then it probably is the ABS module.

Pull the actual codes, look at what they mean, and follow the diagnostics tree for each, with an OBD reader like the mx+. It will tell you where to start and it is way cheaper than firing the parts cannon.

As already said, simply read the codes and start from there. No reason to guess and start throwing random parts at it. Don't take this wrong as I'm not trying to single you out.......but just don't understand why so many people won't look at the specific codes. Keep in mind that the codes may not be caused by an actual part or sensor being bad. From my experience on stuff like wheel speed sensor codes half the time it's something else causing the codes. Like a broken wire, corroded connector, or even a bad wheel bearing. You can throw all the new wheel speed sensors at it you want under those conditions and it won't fix the problem.

I seem to recall a TSB or maybe recall about certain conditions causing a short and the truck acting erratic. Like if you tried to turn on the cruise control at the same time you were accelerating it would glitch out. I know my 2018 had issues occasionally but I dont think I've had any on my 2021.

The problem was you couldn't turn it off. Bad.......

Recall date
2018-05-16

Recall no.
18V332000

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Recall consequence
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Recall action
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.
