Towing and cruise control

What locks out the cruise control when towing on a 1500? Is it the simple fact that the plug is plugged in?

I've used cruise control on my 4th gen when towing a uhaul trailer, is it different when using the 7 pin?

Cruise shouldn’t be disabled or locked out when towing.

Yesterday I had a trailer on the truck and I wanted to rest my right foot for a while and the cruise control would not turn on. I thought it was odd and tried some different things to engage it but had no success. I’ll have to look further into it.

Cruise definitely works while towing. I just used it a ton on our 3500 mile trip out west. Integrated brake controller worked great and trans was in tow/haul the whole time.

My cruise wont engage when I have not used it in a while. The fix for me is to toggle through all four buttons for the cruise and it will work again. As far as towing i will use cruise when the terrain allows. If conditions are right I will also turn off tow/haul and do my own downshifting when needed. By doing this I can tow in 5th gear a lot more than i can with tow/haul on.

i've never heard of cruise being locked out while towing. Maybe try checking your fuse or wire connections? Maybe a button in your cruise controls is wearing out?

I've read of intermittent issues with the switches that control the cruise control, that may be the issue.
