So I'm in the market for a little GPS unit for the truck, specifically just so that I can get directions on the fly while towing.

I've been looking around, and I've seen not only significant price gaps, but also a few models that state they are specific for trailing/towing.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these? If so or not, what brands should I/Should I not be looking at?

i'm not really sure how a GPS designed for towing can be any different then any other GPS

as for brands i personally prefer Garmin but there's a ton on the market these days so it's really hard to pick. the thing to look for is really how easy it is to use and a bigger screen is going to be much easier

personally i stopped using the dedicated units and mainly use my phone now. most smart phones now have voice commands so you can find places and set a route all hands free plus the maps stay updated but with a dedicated unit you usually have to manually update maps sometimes also at a cost. the biggest disadvantage is that you have to rely on a cell signal but it hasn't been an issue for me yet

The Garmin Dezi is popular with the truckers and the RV version (RV760LMT) is popular with the RV community. I am going to add the RV760 to my Longhorn when I start our travel America retirement trip, I'll be tugging our fiver.

Specific GPS units are made for truckers and RVers. You can put in to the GPS your height and length and the GPS will keep you away from low bridges and roads you would have trouble navigating, to name a few. For the RVers, camping sites and fueling places that accommodate a pickup pulling an RV are listed.
