Lucky me.
I spoke of dropping my LA360 into my 01.
You guy's said bad idea.
So I went looking to see what I could see. I found a 99 Magnum 360 out of a 1500 4x4 with 87000 miles on it. Complete with a/c pump, alternator, manifolds, mounts, throttle body, etc.
Straight swap for my LA. Wants it for his 65 Polara.

So... I need to buy a balanced flex plate.
How about my computer? 318 work on 360?
Should be all I need to do right?

does the 360 come with a flex plate? i don't know 100% but i think a 99 360 might have come from the factory with a flex plate that is already balanced.

ya you may want to look at that first. i think it should just have a weight welded on it which is pretty obvious.

also as far as the computer goes you may be better off to buy a tuner just because of how new your truck is. otherwise it sounds like you got all you need.

Jet stage 2 is like $350.
What about "Ryan?" here?
Any suggestions?

IMO jet is a piece of crap. A buddy tuned his truck with it, barely noticeable performance increase in towing. It sounded different and it got off the line a little quicker, but it still wasnt really any better than mine with the deathflash at towing. We both have 318s.
Ryan is the way to go IMO, I was at a convention of sorts this weekend and there were a bunch of guys with tuned out trucks, they all speak highly of him.

ya i don't think i would trust a jet stage 2 chip. they look pretty sketchy. you want a tuner that actually changes the tuning in the computer

Ryan would most likely be the best buy to get a tune from.

i just figure a tuner would cost about the same as getting a new pcm.

also before you do the swap you should pull the intake of the 360 and replace the plenum gasket and shorten the bolts that hold the plenum pan on.

Good luck getting an answer here he doesn't peruse the forums much. Just go to his Facebook page, Flying Ryan Performance.

As far as your original question: check to see that it comes with the flexplate, if not you'll need it. You'll need to swap intake/injectors. You will need a 360 pcm yes. The 318 pcm will run a 360 but lean and 360 pcm will run a 318 lean.

JET modules get overridden by the pcm anyways and all they do is make you run a point rich. Don't worry about tuning until you have time correct pcm
