Trailer Camera

I have a 2024 1500 with the 12" U-Connect display. I spoke to service department, and they said I should talk to a car radio specialist for a aftermarket camera. I can't believe now one has asked this yet. The tailgate camera is worthless with a trailer. Has anyone run into this yet?

I bought new a 2024 Ram 2500 out of state which has that “coax” connector (left of the license plate) which supposedly accept the trailer rear view camera which displays on the Digital Rear View Mirror in the cockpit.​

The selling dealer shipped the camera to me (Kit PN: 68686112AA).
I installed it according to the instrcutions but IT DOESN’T WORK.

Called the dealer who told me to take the truck to a local RAM dealer who will “Flash” the VIN with the sales-code that will enable the camera.

BUT..it didn’t work… THERE IS NOTHING CONNECTED TO THE Rear-Bumper COAX-connector. The vehicle harness is “missing’ a jumper or similar.

This has become a real puzzle…because the local Ram Dealer says that camera kit is intended for a CAB/Chassis 3500 or 4500. No info found by the local Ram dealer on what jumper or otherwise how to enable this truck to see that camera.

FOUND the Solution! The Ram Dealer was Wrong! This camera works perfectly….AFTER the spare tire was dropped to get a better view …and find the disconnected harness hidden behind another harness and I connected it to the “dock” on the bumper….the DVRM (Digital Rear View Mirror) Immediately LIT UP and the camera works perfectly.
The Ram Dealer Tech couldn’t find it because it was hidden very well above the spare tire. Some lazy assemblly-line worker was in a hurry to get to the cantina I suppose.
