So I feel silly for even asking this but some how over the last few months the rod/piece of metal the connects my 4wd shift lever on the floor of my Ram to my transfer case has dropped off or something else.....

I am hoping someone can help me ID this part and have pictures if needed.

Looks like you need a transfer case rod and bushings. Type in dodge ram transfer case shift rodon Google. Then click on shopping. There is a kit with bushing for about 10 bucks including shipping. If you have the rod you can find the bushings at parts stores Dorman number 14078. I

Or, you can replace it with a turn buckle and two eye bolts. About $5 and never have a problem again.

No. They are threaded opposite. Once you set the length it will stay that way.

Get a turn buckle the length you need, plus bolts to fit holes, four washers and four safety nuts (with nylon in them). That way they can't come loose.
