I HAVE A 2009 CUMMINS 67 WITH 6 SPEED AUTO. CARRYING A 11,000# LOAD I USUALLY RUN ABOUT 70 DEGREES ABOVE OUTSIDE AMBIENT AIR TEMP. EXAMPLE 80 DEGREES OUTSIDE THE TRANS RUNS 150 DEGREES + OR - 10 DEGREES WITH EXCEPTION OF PULLING A SIZEABLE HILL FOR 15 MINUTES IT WILL HIT ABOUT 170 DEGREES. I AM COMFORTABLE WITH THESE TEMPS.

THE PROBLEM COMES WHEN PULLING IN TOWN, STOP LIGHTS, STOP AND RESUME SPEED, ETC. THE TEMP WILL CLIMB TO 200 TO 220 WHICH I IMAGINE AS LACK OF AIR MOVING THROUGH THE TRANS COOLER. I BELIEVE THE CLUTCH FAN IS WORKING OK BUT I WOULD THINK THE FAN SHOULD KEEP THE TEMP DOWN MORE THAN IT IS.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? WHAT IS YOUR COMPARABLE RIG DOING?

not sure what mine runs in town but my diagnostic tool showed 156 degrees with about 3k pounds behind me in a head wind at a constant 65mph. you could possibly try to relocate the trans cooler down to the lower air dam and put an aux fan on it? that is a popular choice with trailblazer ss guys and something I ended up doing. never had heat issues
