Just curious what everyone else is floating for the temps that their trans is running.

Mine seems to be around 160 to 170 and as high as 199 when towing, im very concerned with keeping the transmission working at a proper temperature i dealt with a grand cherokee that had the trans replaced and numerous attempts at aux coolers leaking etc i do not want to deal with this truck burning up the trans on me.

mine runs between 145 and probably 160 or so when driving (I think), but i have had it up to 210 before when towing in hilly country. The dealer told me they put synthetic fluid in from the factory, so it should be good. I had my fluid changed at 35,000 miles because I am a little rough on my truck. I do maintain it religiously though. I think you are ok on your temps.

Bump!

Would like to hear from anyone that drive a CTD, mine seems to run around 170'F on the highway, I think this is about right but would like someone else to confirm theirs is about the same.

Operating temp for the 5-speed and 6-speed trannies is 80-240 f.

Over 240 you are overheating and should get an alarm. Under 80 it will be modifying operation, like disabling TC lockup and holding shift points.

If you are going to tow, my advice is to be gentle with it until you get it over 80f.

Thanks for the info NYCruiser, those number are great. The truck is new and I'm trying to find out what is normal.
