Will a Tranny from a 96 5.9 1500 bolt into a 2001 5.9 1500<? Oh and work?!?

I'm sure there's a way to do it but its gonna be a pia because 96 used an RH tranny and 01s used an RE tranny, they were slightly different and the REs used more electrical components, I'm not 100% sure what was different tho

Like, at all. It's too much work and will likely keep your truck down for a month.

So I have a 46re in my 96 it would fit but you need to change out the solenoids to the 01 year style. So look at what tranny the 96 has before you get into this make sure it is the 46re.

Ok thanks guys. I looked at the tranny in the 96 and it appears to be an RE I think it may have been swapped in the past
