2014 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi 6 speed transmission 65RFE with shifter on the console, I can’t tow with it at all and it heats up when idling at a stop light or just stopped and idling when driving it cools down and there is no noise it shifts good I changed the transmission oil and filter it had a good color and it still heats up it’s a smooth driving truck no noise or chatter. Anyone know what the problem could be please let me know, I called up many transmission people and they don’t know what’s wrong that they would have to look at it. Some wound $6000 to rebuild it I can buy a new one for that any help would be appreciated.

Your viscous fan-clutch is suspect.

What you describe occured to my 2012 Ram 1500. Replaced the fan clutch. No more problem.

How to test the fan-clutch. Get the truck warmed up. Use a heavy rag to try to engage the fan…. If it’s easily stopped…. bad clutch.

BTW, the clutch is Left-Hand threads.
