I am loving the truck so far.Now I am positive this has been asked before but am wondering it the trip timer if you can stop it from counting or does it just keep going when the truck is running.i have looked in the owners manual to no avail and searched online(my search skills are not the greatest. Lol).if anyone knows It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a good day everyone.

If you’re talking about actual time the engine is running yes, so if it’s warming up for 10 min it will add the time.
When you reset your trip counter the timer and miles would start over.

I do a lot of road traveling

A- I would re set at oil change and not change until next oil change.

B- I would use for time and miles between stops by re setting every time.

The trip timer runs any time the key is in the run position. You can reset the trip timer any time and start over at 0's if you like.

My '07 Tundra had the feature where you could pause either of the trip meters #1 or #2, or restart them independently.

My '21 Ram doesn't have that feature. As mentioned, it's possible to reset them independently but, they're both ascending constantly whenever the truck is on and moving.

I reviewed the soft copy version of the owner's manual for my truck and there's only one instance of 'trip odometer'. And, that one instance only mentions the illumination aspect, nothing about the functionality.

They must have finished this manual on a Friday afternoon or, all the Ram truck manuals suck.

Thank you everyone for the responses.i started using the timer everytime I fuel up help with working out fuel mileage.lol I appreciate the responses

You're most welcome.

I've always reset after fueling.
If I take a proper road trip, one odo is dedicated to the trip and the other is for fuel.

I'm a bit obsessive about monitoring fuel consumption because if/when the mileage takes a dive,
I know immediately that something is not right.

I agree sir I'm the same way been like that with all my vehicles.its a good indicator of a issue and I usually catch it before it becomes a big issue.i have had people say to me I only do it to pinch pennies.lol far from the truth do it cause it's a easy way of telling you of a problem.you get a baseline of mpgs and if it starts to wavier from there you know to start diagnosing.
