Went down to Mark Dodge in Lake Charles, LA for an in stock 26 Tungsten- great buying experience!
Got it home 1,200 miles to Wisconsin and cleaned it up nice. Noticed the chrome strips that are both supposed to say Tungsten don’t. The driver side is stamped with Limited. Any Limited guys out there with a Tungsten strip?
For the price of this thing I would have thought the paint would be better than what looks to be a garage job. Orange peel, dimples, loose 1500 Hurricane badges and other imperfections. While my 2015 Longhorn had a few flaws this Tungsten disappoints in the finish department.
The options, the ride , the look, the fit and giddy up are all excellent but finish is a swing and a miss. Almost wondering if I made a mistake.

Sorry about your new truck experience being tainted. As for the chrome strips, I would think think that could be fixed under warranty. Sometimes they will do things like that to keep the lines moving. I worked at a Chrysler- Plymouth dealer years ago and we often got Plymouths with Dodge parts like tail lights or interior trim.

As for the paint job, your $90000 Tungsten has the same paint as a $40000 Tradesman work truck, it just happens to have a lot more options.

I want to say that sometime in the last few months someone else made the same complaint about the side trim on a new Tungsten. One side said Limited and the other Tungsten.

Possibly your truck had some damage from shipping or weather and had to be touched up at delivery and they just did a poor job of it. I've heard others say similar. The chrome strips saying different things would bug me big time and need to be changed. Beautiful truck by the way.

A few years ago a coworker bought a new Ram 2500/3500 diesel. Sorry but I don’t remember the exact details on the truck model, but it had a different interior door panel from what was on the drivers side. The wrong door panel was actually the upgraded model line. Anyhow, his dealer was able to get the correct interior door panel for his truck. He wanted the upgraded for the drivers door as he said he like the “wrong” one more. He ended up getting the correct door panel installed under warranty.
OP, I would think any Ram dealer could get that switched out under warranty for you.

Did you notice these flaws before you signed papers? Did you mention them to the dealer pre-purchase? If so, did the offer any discount?
Not noticed during pre-purchase inspection. I guess I was looking from too high of a view. You really don’t notice this stuff till you are detailing, at least for me.

Yeah, I certainly get that. Wish you good luck getting things squared away. It should never have passed quality control, especially on their top of the ine model.

Things like this are why I always take someone with me to look a vehicle over. It helps to have someone who isn’t vested in buying and is not feeling the same excitement about buying a new vehicle.

When I bought my 2018 sport that had black badge package, I noticed that the passenger side had a chrome badge on the door. I was thinking about taking them off anyway so got the dealer to give me a credit for the price of the badge replacement. Unfortunately at this point you are probably stuck with a warranty claim to have them swap it out. I'm always really good at pointing out the flaws in other people's cars but get too excited to buy my own and tend to miss stuff like you did.

Time to debadge it altogether and give her the clean shaven look ;)

Beautiful truck, but any vehicle in white (base or pearl) is going to quickly show road fallout debris damage in terms of tiny orange rust spots everywhere, especially on the tailgate.

Without a good paint-care regimen they spoil because literally everything shows up on them, including the fallout.

I'd recommend you do an immediate fallout wash (automotive grade acid wash), then clay bar it, and then at the very least wax it. And do this annually - late spring to early summer so you get all the winter road grime off it before you do the fallout wash and wax.

The long term and most resilient treatment would be to fallout wash it and then do some paint correction and then put on a 5 year quality ceramic sealer.

Once worked in rental cars. We had several Chrysler products with mixed up named. Front would say Caravan and back was Voyager. Had Fifth Ave/New Yorkers/Dynasty models. A few were complete and correct on exterior and interior, but VIN showed another make.

This is a warranty issue and it only affects one moulding piece (front door).

For what it's worth, my ex had a '71 Pontiac Ventura with a cluster that had a Chevrolet bow-tie high beam indicator.

And don't ever ever let the dealer detail your truck! Most dealers believe a "detail" is driving your truck through a "Tunnel of Destruction"(automatic car wash)

Appreciate all the input, finally got the chance to go to a local dealer and was taken care of, now has Tungsten on both sides.
Anybody have input on the factory box cover? Seems to suck real bad, clamps get in the way when folding up and down.

Do you mean the tonneau cover on the bed? The two clips that hold the back to the rail left and right can be folded all the way back and clip in so they don’t catch. If you are not sure what I mean let me know and I’ll take pics.

I spent a little time today with that tonneau cover and i see what you are talking about, thank you.
Still prefer the roll up style.
