i little bit of history. i have a 2015 ram 3500 with the cummins 6.7 diesel with turbo charger. the turbo charger failed last year. the truck was out of warranty and we had to pay to have the turbo charger replaced (big $$$'s).

yesterday i received a letter from ram stating that they are extending the warranty on the turbo charger from 5yrs 50K miles to 15yrs 150K miles. at the bottom of the letter there was a sentence that said that if we had already had to replace the turbo charger look on-line for refund instructions. that sounds good!

so has anybody else received this letter? do you understand it the same way? and does anybody know what the underlying issue with the turbo charger is that is causing this warranty extension? i could find anything on-line about it.

i'll be going today to the dealer that did the replacement and ask then what they know.

the truck is a 2015 ram 3500 DRW with the cummins 6.7L diesel engine. i've attached a copy of the letter that i received from FCA. i went to the dealer and asked them about the letter and they claimed no knowledge. they did however search their database and found a brand new service bulletin about the issue. they gave me a copy and i have attached the front page of it. i also attached a picture of the scanner error code that i was getting.

when this happened last year the dealer replaced the entire turbo charger. the new service bulletin say the FCA will only refund the cost of replacing the turbo charger actuator. but this service bulletin was not in existence the entire turbocharger was replaced. so i am going to argue for the full cost of the turbo charger replacement. let's hope!!!

the dealer service department did say that they have seen very few warranties extended for the 10yr, 150K period.

I had a turbo actuator go bad and replaced in January 2022. Got this letter in April 2022 and submitted for reimbursement with all the documentation and receipts. I got an email back about a week later asking for the same documentation again and gave me a week to provide it or they would close the case not in my favor. I submitted the same day and am still waiting on an answer. Will update with the outcome.

Received an email back from FCA stating that I was approved for a total of $1,829.25 refund of the $1,933.93 that I submitted (did not cover coolant or shop supplies). They said I should have the check within 30 days so we will see...

the dealer replaced the entire turbo charger ($7500). when i got the letter i submitted all the documentation FCA requested for a refund. i waited a few weeks and called to check status. they claimed they had no record of my claim. so i emailed all the documentation and checked status a week later. they had it but they were waiting for information from the dealer that did the replacement. i went to the dealer and had their service manager call FCA. about a couple of weeks later i got an email saying they were going to issue a check for $6700. last week i got the check. not the entire mount of what i paid but i'm happy with it! plus it looks like it will be warrantied for many years to come should there be any other problems.
