Hello, I haven't been on here in a long time and I have a question/issue. My 2008 2500 2wd, G56, 6.7 has had EFI live for about 13 years from a vendor that's no longer findable. Truck is all stock except for deletes and the efi. The vgt actuator on the turbo is going bad and since truck has 410k miles I decided to go with a new turbo. I'm going with a non VGT turbo this time (on the way). I'm not that savy with this stuff so bear with me. I'm not sure if the efi has the turbo deleted or not, so I unplugged the turbo speed sensor and the actuator wiring and started the truck and there was no CEL, so I assumed "great, it's already set up for a non vgt turbo". However, while the turbo is still unplugged I plug my scanner into the obd port and it won't even connect to the vehicle unless the turbo is plugged back in. So the issue is that it "appears" that I'll be ok with the non vgt and there won't be any cel's but my scanner will no longer be able to be used in the event I need to clear a different code or something else. Normally when I connect the scanner it picks the truck right up but here's a pic of what it looks like with the turbo unplugged, it won't let you select manufacturer or anything: Is is possible that the EFI still has the factory turbo in the program? If it does why no CEL? Thanks.
