Does anyone know if a turbo from a diesel can be put on a gas engine. I have a 318 and I have trouble towing my trailer, is it possible?
thanks.

You "could" use an Hx35 but I wouldn't
For what it'll cost there are better options out there
An hx35 is a bit small and te diesel version is built for engines that hit boost between 1500-2500 rpm

A buddy if mine uses a Hx35 on an old conquest. He's also running a bullseye hot side to spool it.

im not looking for a ton of power, it would be just to help when in low rpms. does it harm the engine in any way, I have been reading up on turbos and it looks like i would need a taller cam and stronger valve springs, but it seems easy enough. what ever help you can give me is greatly appreciated.

exhaust routing wont be fun unless you remote mount the turbo.

i know quite a few that have out them on our cars. they are 2.2L turbo dodges and they are by far they cheapest setup for our cars. 8V and 16V 4 banger turbo cars are running them. my buddy runs 37 PSI on his stock bottom end car and is in the 12's running running rich A/F ratios. he keeps up with stock vipers!

Adding a turbo to a non turbo car or truck ends up being a money pit. I ended up putting like 20k into my stratus that was supposed to be a 5k project.

It's a decently sized turbo for 134ci not 318ci

for that amount of money I can buy a whole truck.
I am getting annoyed of always having to take it out of overdrive to keep up with traffic. What is the best modification to change the power band at low rpms, without changing gears.
any advice?

he was asking if it would work on a gas engine. i was just letting him know it has been done. FYI, we use the HE351CW. there are bigger ones that should work but at 37 PSI im sure he doesnt need that much boost

A turbo doesnt know what kind of vehicle its on It has one job, now spooling it is a totally different thing.

there is a lot more to it than just dropping the turbo in and go. especially if you want it to run right and not damage your stuff.

There's a guy on another forum I'm on that built his own custom front mount turbo kit for his 5.2l 96 ram. Now he did all the work himself which I'm sure saved him a ton of cash. I know it looked like a ton of work and piecing things together.

He talked about using an hx35 but I think he ended up with an h1c turbo. (Can't remember for sure now) he's only been running 3lbs of boost and no tuning for it the past few months as he was having trouble finding someone to tune it. But I think he's working on cranking it up to 7lbs now.
