Here in Missouri there are two requirements for Lemon Law:

1) Model Year 2015 or newer and
2) Been to shop for same reason three or more times with no resolution or in dealership for two weeks.

I think I'm going to do this.

I posed this question a few months back. What if we all started trying to get these trucks returned due to lemon law. Maybe then they'd pay someone for a day of coding and get an update pushed out.

Ok I have been reading this thread for some time now and have wondered if anyone has considered that the problem may not be software related at all. In that it may very well be a problem with the radio itself hence why no fix has been made for the problem yet. Anyway just my two cents. Yup a little frustrated about the problem. But mine does not appear to be as bad as most have noted.

Radios crystal clear before software update. Horrible overall after forced software update.

Pretty sure its software related.

chrisbh17 yes I understand that. And yes mine was just fine prior to the update. But have to ask why the update was done in the first place. To fix problems I am unaware of because of the time frame I bought my truck. Anyway it was on my part just a guess as to why the problem has not been taken care of.

I could see it being a hardware issue if something in the sw took out a mosfet or something in the circuit board, but it is unlikely. It’s more likely that since it affects a small percentage they simply don’t care to fix it.

I think the original intention was to make the parking assist volume either adjustable or louder than it already was.

Personally I think they somehow messed with the equalization of the wrong source (i.e. instead of adjusting the parking assist beep volume, they ended up messing up the radio source volume instead).

The real issue here is....why the hell dont they just roll back the changes and release a new copy of the old code as an OTA?

We know the reasons why the software update was sent out. It was for many reason, but I think the one that affects sound quality is related to trying to make music played from a phone over bluetooth sound "better":

We know the muffled bass and generally crap sounding stereo is a result of a software update because Fiat Chrysler has told us so. And it's not a small percentage of people affected, it is anyone with a 2018 FCA vehicle and a 8.4 inch screen. This is likely 33% of all 2018 FCA vehicles sold (best guess). A Google search shows that FCA sold 2.1 million vehicles in 2017. So, figure 700,000 vehicles have this problem.

Not a small percentage of radios affected but a small amount of people that notice/care.most people will just crank the bass down to 9 and go on with their lives others think this is awesome my radio now kicks.i am neither of those but I am only in the truck a hour a day and listen 90% of the time to talk radio so I can live with it. although I agree the update sucks.

I've wondered that since the very beginning actually. Makes no sense.

It's the clarity of the audio that I miss.

I understand that now, I thought it was only the 18 rams with the 8.4 navigation. I didn’t realize it was all vehicles from 18 with it.

So, not sure if I should get my hopes up. Has April Fools already happened this year?
