Well the other day I got around to putting new shocks on my 2012 ram 1500 it’s a crew cab 4x4 4in lift and 35s. The lift was put on when the truck was new and 145000miles later I ordered some rough country N3 shocks and it drives like a completely different truck! It’s amazing how smooth the truck rides now and feels much more stable! Will be doing the struts next is a alignment needed after replacing the struts?

I just put some Bilstein 4600s on my 2015 1500 Crew Cab RWD. I read tons of different posts, and watched numerous videos. Turns out it was pretty simple and the only need for a jack was to get the front shocks off, and to raise the back a bit to get the rear shocks on. I did not remove the rear wheels, though I did remove the screws from the inner fender liners so I could push them out of the way a bit, no need to fully remove them. Used a crow's foot for the pesky inside nut on the upper part of the rear shock. The ride is sooo much better as the OEMs were leaking and really ready to go.

I would go with the N3s with the complete struts the extra length for the lift because to run factory struts your going to have to put spacers on top of the struts and in my opinion spacers are a weak point and make the truck ride like crap with bigger tires. But that’s just my opinion. The ride quality from stocks to the N3s was a night and day difference on my truck. Before taking sharp curves at 45mph felt sketchy and after I put the N3s on I’ve taken the same curves running 80 and the truck feels so much more stable. My advice don’t do stocks you won’t be happy with them and will end up changing them in the future and spending more money to do it. If you got any questions don’t hesitate to ask I will reply as soon as I can.
