I'm picking up an ecodiesel outdoorsman in the next day or two and i am thinking of having the dealer throw in a set of the black projector headlights as part of the loan price. What is the difference between those and retroshops headlights? i figured i would have to buy the adaptors from retro shop but any knowledge you might have would be helpful

The lamp housings are really no different, (OEM vs TYC replicas)
its the mods that make them shine (pun intended) and dealer prices are ridiculous.

Stock projector lamps still have lame halogen bulbs,
they improve with an HID drop-in kit (Bulbs,Ballasts,CanBus adapters)

But the Bomb is a Full FX-R projector RetroFit with HID's

Few shots of the OEM Haloegen projectors vs OEM with HID vs FXR with HID

And yes......you can't see the FULL width. I'm in the basement, its raining, and not dark out. But, gives you an idea....

And - yup....camera was set on the SAME settings, pics were cropped, but no editing done to them.

I started with the Quad to Projector upgrade with HID drop in

Wall distance is just over 40' away, no fogs

13+ Projector low beam with drop in HID kit for +$155 (35w/5000k)

Decided This is what I really want! New set just ordered on the Weekend with FX-R's

how much money have you dropped on lights? it looks like the quad upgrade is 750 alone.

A LOT

an HID upgrade can range from $155 for just bulbs/ballasts/harness
up to a full retro-fit HID upgrade, custom painted/tinted 13+ projectors
with the Big 3.0 FX-R's and adapters .... around $1500

My local dealer wanted over $900 EACH for stock OEM projector lamps, $1800/pair (Canada)
That's a LOT of money for crappy halogen output IMHO

I paid substantially LESS than that with a crap load of upgrades from Jeremy.
They Look So much better than stock and as the pictures show, flat out destroys them for performance.

If you just want Quads retro-fitted with Morimoto Mini's
that's about middle of the road, no adapters required.
