I just got done installing a UPR catch can on my ‘22. I pulled the pre-installed hoses off the can. The threads I’ve read here concerning which side of the can connects to the engine and the PCV valve seemed inconclusive to me so I routed the hoses to lessen the bends on the hoses when connected, i.e., aft connection on the can going to engine, forward connection going to PCV valve.

When I went over the supplied skimpy install instructions again after completing the mission it was then I noticed a warning about disassembling the “check valves” as parts may be lost. The elbows on the can are check valves or is this referring to another UPR product?

All I did was move the elbows and hoses to the opposite side of the can rather than pull the hoses off of elbows.

I don’t see the elbows listed on the UPR website.

TIA!

I didn't think that those pipe fittings were check valves. You will probably be okay. Check the catch can in a few days to a week and see if it has collected some nasty oil.

Just for reference here is the UPR can installed on my dad's 2019 or 2020. I forget what year his truck is.

I just installed mine yesterday.I believe check valves are something available that UPR,sells on there website as an addition to your plumbing ,inline on one of the hoses supplied. It's optional.
I see them listed there separate from the kit I purchased. That the instructions "are skinny",they are useless,IMO.Utube was more helpful.Even the photo in the above post is all you need...
When supplied out of the box,as you know, the hoses were already attached to the unit. The longer hose side goes to the manifold intake and shorter to the pcv .IMO.
There was a post I read somewhere on this forum, and my intepretation of what the content was ,confused me initially, and I think was actually incorrect about the UPR install.IT stated with a photo(because someone took a photo of their installation ,and posted it), that the hoses have to be crossed , thereby reversing the proper location(meaning the side meant for the pcv was ending up at the intake manifold and the other one, meant for the intake manifold attached to the pcv) .That was my difficulty, initially, and the instructions handily leave out the most important part...where does each hose hook up too.You cannot figure it out by taking the top off the can and looking as each side looks the same at the baffle. It's a simple install, however, and they come rated highly.I know they have a customer service line and they do answer your questions by email, but their responses are as vague as the instructions.
I emailed them regarding, that that tiny threaded hole at the top.The kit comes with a small knurled head , bolt that, appears(and fits) made for that hole.I stuck it in and I left it there. They emailed back saying it wasn't necessary, btw.Nothing in the instructions why there is a tiny knurled head bolt in the kit and no explanation ,what hole is for.
