Just stumbled across this over on High Performance Rams, about using this pcv replacement to run a catch can on a 6.4 intake manifold.

the part is this. You just have to buy a in line one way valve. And whatever size hoses you have on your catch can needs to be 3/8” going into this part. You just swap your O rings for your old pic valve to this one. https://www.builditmotorsport.com/...

Interesting! Already have that check valve somewhere so that's easy. Too bad it wasn't aluminum id be on that.

Isn't it buried under the intake manifold and into the block of the 6.4?
I think it's in behind the angled part of the intake manifold Brian, sure looks like it by the pics. You might need a step ladder to reach it though
You were actually the first guy i thought of,when i stumbled across this :waytogo: :Big Laugh:

Do you actually get enough oil residue to make the catch can worth while. Till now I have just used a can of MAF cleaner on the intake about every 80,000 klms and that seems to keep it pretty clean.

ha ha

I never did get an engine creeper - I talk my sons into doing my ugliest work, but they're getting harder to corral these days. Not sure I could use an engine creeper anyway, since having my guts torn out and re-stuffed in surgery some years back.

I'll probably have my local shop replace my spark plugs when the time comes. I can still get underneath the truck, though. lol

I'm a firm believer in them Dean,i've pulled a couple intakes off high milege 5.7's,and actually had the crap from the pcv actually pore out the manifold. There's lots of pics of the intake ports/and intake valves gunked right up with carbon on higher milege hemi's with-out a catch can. The Hellcats come standard with an air/oil seperator aka catch can,it's in their valve covers.but Ma Mopar routes the crankcase crap back into the oilpan,as they know the average owner would never stay on top of the maintence a stand alone can requires. I even have one on my 300,lol.

Maybe I should just run a spray can of CRC intake cleaner through the air intake instead, like I do with wifey's GDI engine?

That'll help, lol. What alot of guys don't realize is the crap sucked through the pcv system and into the manifold, also effectively lowers the octane rating of the fuel you're using.

It actually depens on the weather for me. In the summer I empty my can once every month and a half or so. When I do it stinks like stale gas and spray paint and is blacker than Toby's a ss. Junk I don't want going back Into my engine. In the winter it's once every two weeks, and it's frothy yellow and gross looking. I wouldn't habe an engine without one now.

The worst engine i've ever had for filling a catch can was my old 13 with the 4.7,i used to dump it's can about every 1500 clics, and it would be half full by then.Hard to see as i'd painted it black, but it was in behind the battery on the drivers side of the brake booster.Just found another pic of it,that's easier to see

It blends in good there! I got one of the billet ones with the bracket that's on the side of the engine.

So I’m all in on the catch can idea. I might buy the Mighty Mouse billet PCV adapter. But the can is too rich for my wallet. Why spend for the Mishimoto $113 can or the Moroso can when I could buy the Evil Energy can for $50? As long as it’s easy to remove to empty, is one can better?
And, does the CRC intake cleaner really help with what’s already built up?

Google is your friend. Use it.

Assuming CRC contains PEA, it is well-proven to remove carbon deposits. Numerous posts here and on the interweb.

That’s funny. I asked a group of Ram guys who would have experience about this for our application. Instead I was told to go ask Google.

Anyone else have some real world experience?
