Well I think I’ve made up my mind and I’m going to go with the Retrax Pro MX tonneau cover for my new 2018 Ram 1500 but I’m having a hard time trying to figure out if the rectangular bases of the Putco SSR Bed Rail bars will fit within the cutouts of the tonneau cover rail or if I will require trimming of the cutouts- which I called Retrax and they said that as long as the track part of the rail isn’t messed with, then trimming the cutouts wouldn’t void the warranty.

I just don’t really wanna go that route of bustin’ out the Dremell to make the cutouts bigger to accommodate the rail bases.

Well, depending on what answers I get, I’m probably just going to scrap this whole idea and just get the tonneau cover without the stake pocket cutouts and not get the stainless rail tubes. After thinking about it and considering that truck bed rails nowadays aren’t stout anymore like they once were, I probably won’t be able to apply any real tension anyways to use the bars as safe and sufficient tie down points without bending the bedrails and/or distorting the mounting rail guides for the tonneau creating leaks.
