I have a 2014 Ram 5.7 hemi, I just installed new lifters and cam got heads back on and rockers assy. installed. I rolled the motor by hand, and I have one valve staying open (intake #3cyl). Any ideas what could cause this? I soaked the lifters in oil overnight before install could it be hydraulicly locked?

A valve stuck open is very unlikely to be hydraulically locked at the valve stem, and not likely at the lifter either. A seized lifter or valve stem is possible, but unlikely. A bent valve is more likely.

Try moving the rocker up/down, also try the same with the pushrod.

If the lifter is seized in the up position and holding the valve open, the rocker and pushrod will be very tight, under alot of force and not move.

If the lifter is down, and a stuck/bent valve is the problem, then the rocker and push rod will be fairly loose and not difficult to move.

Did you have any head work performed by a machine shop?

We're the heads torn down I.E. springs removed for seal installation?

Remove the rockers and use the handle of a wooden hammer to push down on the spring and see if you can feel it binding.

In cases like this I roll the suspect cylinders piston to TDC and put my compression tester hose in one of the spark plug holes and I pressurize the cylinder so I can remove the valve spring. Once I remove the spring I remove the valve seal so I can feel how much effort it takes to move the valve by hand in the valve guide. It should feel like it's easy to move but just a little bit of resistance from the guide.
