So I wanted to get more performance out of my 16 5.7 hemi limited for pulling a trailer on 300 mile trips. First steps i was looking at was the Veraram and possibly a throttle body spacer? (Dont know which one either). So one of my concerns based on watching YT videos of its installation is that the extension you mount on the front to direct air up into the filter looks like it will lay in from of the radiator and more concerning to (correct me if i'm wrong) is the trans cooler/ac condenser? My worry is trans temps would rise because of the blockage. Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks all

I have had a Vararam on all three of the 4th gen's I've owned and I have never experienced any problems with trans overheating as a result of the Vararam.

Thanks jay, did that piece lay right against the rads or stand off on an angle a bit? Also it looks like there is no need for a catch can because we are eliminating the breather hose and installing a filter/breather now?

Just my honest opinion, cut off that plastic extension air gets trapped under it stops air from traveling up to the intake i think you get more ram air without it. I did this last year works great

It will sit at an angle. I would also keep the catch can. Matt at Moe's has an excellent u-tube on the proper installation of the Vararam--worth the watch.

Mine angles out also which would make me believe it makes the air go up at an angle instead of just hitting straight forward and not push/force/ram the air up and into the filter! JMO

It doesn't have any other place to go except into the filter-it's sealed at the top against the hood. I hope I understood your concern---You can tell that plenty of air is going through the filter by the amount of dirt that gets filtered out.

If you mean me I'm agreeing that the angle helps force/ram it up into the filter.

Does the computer adjust automatically for the additional air or does it need to be "tuned"?

I didn't have to do anything to it for the vararam itself but I've had a tuner since then.

Hope this isn't considered a high jack. I live in west Texas should I be concerned about how well the Vararam filters ?

I'm out in Arizona and there's plenty of grit in the air here also, if you check on Amazon there are filter covers for the vararam to give you that little bit of extra filtering. When I get mine, I'm going to pick one up.

When I first got mine I didn't like the way the seal was on the bottom of the filter itself so I added a thicker stick on seal and the inside of the filter base and throttle body is spotless all the time.

Lot of people have been using the pre-filter with pretty good success.

do these actually increase HP? I was looking to get one just for the sake of using the real-estate the current air filter take up for an onboard air system.

It has been tested at the track and found to increase your performance. Yes, it does increase your hp.

I agree with you but I have no scientific facts so I just let it go. I don't know all the formula's that makes anyone who doesn't have one a believer so I just enjoy mine!

Matt at Moe's Performance did the tests at a track in Houston a few years ago. He has the track results. If someone wants the exact results I think they can contact him.

For what it’s worth, overall I’ve been happy with my my Vararam but it’s falling apart on me. The liner on the bottom has almost completely fallen off. Has anyone else had this issue?
