2017 Laramie with a pentastar.

We drove from Houston, through Livingston TX Jackson MS, Asheville NC, to DC.
Returned through Charlotte NC and Pensacola FL back to Houston.

Until I bought the Laramie, I was driving a small 2.0L 2002 civic that got 28 mpg no matter how I drove it.

After 18 months I still cannot get over how light this thing is on gas.

And going 500+ miles between fill ups is amazing coming from 250 to 280 in the civic.

Evic calculated the mileage most spot on. bee0940ef7be8e88f18f62fbada98df9.jpg

Ouch, I think I'm around 22 to 24 combined as a daily driver. Depending on freeway wrecks, remote start, and lead footiness.

The mpg was one of the major reasons I went with ram to begin with, not dissatisfied.

I have a 2018 Ram with V6 and I average 20-21 mpg in the city on cheap ethanol gas and I drive with a heavy right foot. I'm very pleased with the mileage and I also find the 305 hp engine has plenty of power for my needs. I was a little worried that I might regret not getting a V8 but I have no regrets at all except I do kind of wish I would have paid a little more and got 4WD.

i got a caravan with the pentastar in a rental

thing was a dog, im sure the 8spd zf really helps it, the 6 speed on it sucked balls, the engine felt like it was under powered everywhere

i drove it 300 miles 50/50 local/highway and got like 21 mpg.

Only the Challenger and the Ram come with the 305 horse version of the 3.6 and of course the ZF8 makes an amazing difference over the 6spd. I get 24 driving 30 miles hwy. and 15 in town as my daily driver and I am very happy with the mpg and power.

I get the grand caravans often when I travel for work.
It has a 3.6?
That thing is pretty bad I gotta give it to you.
But we did drive from Phoenix up to the canyon and back, did about 27 mpg total this Feb.

I use it cause it's so much easier to load and unload than an armada.

Man im jealous of those numbers.
Ive got a '19 1500 classic crew cab 2wd with the 5.7 and im averaging 10-11city, 18-19hwy, and right around 15combined.
That being said, i drive with a heavy foot, and see much more city driving than i do highway. On longer trips (usually about an hour from Spring to Huntsville) I can see up to 24hwy, if I set cruise at 65 and dont touch it. Thats hard for me to do though, houston area traffic is full of idiots, and its hard not to slam the skinny pedal to get away from them.

All in all, i cant complain though. I wasnt getting this truck for it's fuel economy. I got it for work, to last me a long time, and to have a fun vehicle to drive. (Its scary how fast this truck can accidentally reach its top speed if youre not watching the speedometer)

If you're getting 18-19 on he highway, your doing alright.

I've never gotten the great gas mileage in my vehicles that I read about on forums. My 4000 pound Wrangler with the Pentastar will do 21 if I drive 60mph or less. How does a big ol 5600 pound truck get 23? You'd think any aerodynamic advantage the truck has would be offset by the weight.

I pulled an enclosed 2200 pound trailer to Alcoa Tennessee with my truck. See mods below. My tune has the MDS turned off. Other than huge tires, I've done just about everything imaginable to ruin the fuel mileage, and it still did 14.48 mpg, both ways, pulling the trailer. I'm ok with that. That's actually 1 mpg more than my '99 Dakota with the 3.9 Magnum V6 used to do.

Ive never bother to crunch the numbers, but I've read several times that th price difference in a few mpgs is minuscule in comparison to the total cost of a vehicle. But it's still cool when you get good gas mileage.

Got 21 a time or two with my rcsb rams (5.7 3.92's), even with the performance tune in I got 20 once on a trip from NY to NC. Haven't gotten anywhere close to that since I got a crew cab though, and I'm running that stock without a tune or anything (and same 5.7/8 spd/3.92 setup).

I still like my 2015 SLT 4x4 Pentstar. Around town, little hwy I am around 21. Road trips hwy around 22/23 that is with AT/S tires(4ply) and my winter tires (10)ply about the same. More then enough power for me but I have driven a few Hemi's from the auction and yes they are fun plus I did not have to pay for the gas lol

I'm curious about that too. We owned a 2013 Grand Caravan until 2017. I thought it was great in terms of power with the 62TE 6spd. Used it many times loaded up with all 6 of us and our gear.

I never thought it would scoot a Ram 1500 around as well as it does, even with 3.21 gears.

The zf 8 speed is awesome. My wifes 2016 honda odyssey gets 16.5 mpg with Hondas 6 speed. I have never gone below 19.5 mpg. The difference between the 8 and 6 speed is light years apart. I'm seriously thinking about getting her a Durango for the next vehicle. She hates minivans.

Maybe it was the tank size in the caravan, but we would go through almost a half tank a day, where the armada would get us around 3 days to a tank.

We would just make trips to home depot, and to the job site, while idling a couple hours a day between short drives on site.
I work on airports, so all my site work is paved, and kept surprisingly clean of rocks and other debris.

One day, we used almost 3/4 a tank between sun up and sunset.

Performance wise, I ditn have any specific complaints. It does its job well enough that it's our go to rental for 3/4 guys with parts and tools. Covered bed so our electronics don't get ruined and the low floor is exceptionally easy to load and unload awkward cargo, while the 2nd row captains chairs let us all get out of the hear and work on laptops in more comfort than a taho, or others we used before the caravan.

The armada was absolutely lovely, but I've come to appreciate van more for a mostly people moving get around buggy

Best thing I did was turn off/remove the mileage calculator from the EVIC and just enjoy my truck and all of the power. I didn't buy a Toyota Echo, I bought a Ram for a reason.

Some of these numbers are super high. When I had a V6 Ram for a week I barely got 17mpg driving the same way I do my Hemi. Go figure. The extra power and sacrifice of mpg is worth it to me.

I don't worry about economy much on the truck, and the hemi and 5-speed isn't the most efficient option out there. Ride the motorcycle for little errands as long as its not pouring out, and that does 55mpg eeeeasily on regular and uses only two really inexpensive tires. Use the truck when hauling people and big stuff, and it does that great!
