Hello! I'm searching for a good used 4th gen RAM 1500 crew cab, to tow a RV trailer of up to 7000 lbs. GVW. Seems like I'll be wanting a 5.7 hemi and. . . what else? Advice welcome, both on what to look for and what to avoid. Thanks!

If you are towing, I'd look for the 3.92 rear transaxle. You may lose a mile or two per gallon, or maybe not because you wont be laboring so hard. all depends on the exact gas, oil , truck, trailer, and road.
Yes, the 3:92 is what I need! I am having a terrible time finding out what is the axle ratio of trucks I'm looking at. Salesmen don't know sh*t. What's the most reliable way to find out the axle ration of a used RAM? Shouldn't the VIN lead me to it?
I personally wouldn't tow an (rv) trailer in the 7000 lbs. range with a 1500, can you of course but you should honestly look at the 2500s, anything up in the hills or when you come across some winds you are going to hate it. Don't get anything with the 3.21s to tow if you are dead set on a 1500, 3.92s is what you want for the 1500.Hello!
