Assome know I bought a 2013 1500 3 months ago if that 7800 kms as of rigbt now and has been in for following...

- check engine light

- check engine light leading to grill shutter failure

-replacement of grill shutters

-paint defect metallic cluster on fender

-cruise control failure and crooked box

Today brought it in for manual shift buttons re installed on cruise cluster, radio freezing, temp going to 3/4 mark

10 hrs work order says

- cruise buttons looks good
- radio could not find fault
- temp guage reflash tsb bla bla

10 hrs and all they did was flash the computer my appointment was for 8am not happy needless to say

So I tracked sales lady I dealt with and told her im done with this lemon give me new one please....keep in mind im only at 7800kms

Aswell ford is drooling over it and wanting to trade a ecoboost for it....

So see what happens monday stay tuned for more updates on my lemon

I hate to hear that bro..I hope I get lucky on my 13' sport lol..The new F150's are very nice..I had a 2011 Supercrew FX4 with the 5.0 and I loved that truck..My biggest regret is getting rid of it for a Vette but we live and learn..I wanted the ecoboost when I bought it but couldn't find 1 the color I wanted and just the type of person that I am I had to have a truck that day so I left with the 5.0..You won't be disappointed with the new F-150 that's for sure!!
I'm sure I'm gonna get flamed for saying that but oh we'll..Im not brand specific and I usually don't buy the same brand twice in a row hence me getting the ram..
Good luck bro!!

I have a 2013 FX4 Ecoboost truck built and saved on the Ford website. Been wanting one forever (even since before I bought the Dodge). Just can't pull the trigger at the moment...

Good luck!

Remember, Ford's coming out with a totally new truck soon. You'll be buying the old model which means your residual will drop some.

I'd have bought the Ford if they had the newer body style out.

Sorry for your troubles with your truck.

I have said this before here on RF that dealers are in a tough place.

If they send a part back for credit and it turns out to be a good part the dealer is charged for the part and eats the labor because they replaced a good part unnecessarily. THIS IS BULLSH*T in my book.

I purchased the MFG product with my hard earned dollars and have to waste my time which is money running back and forth to a dealer because they "CANNOT DUPLICATE" a problem or there is no code showing, this is just wrong!!

Have you talked with dealer owner, area rep, called RAM,started mediation?

Have you talked to lemon law attorney for buzz words, phrases and laws you can suggest to the dealer and reps to help push(twist their arm) them to doing the proper thing?

You will have to jump threw all these hoops unfortunately.

Unless Canada has a different shorter process for lemons.

Good luck with your problem getting it repaired or replaced.

My neighbor loves his eco boost he is on his second since he uses his truck for his business and pulls 5x10 enclosed trailer daily,he trades every 2 yrs.

Is it possible that the shutter failure or temp sensor is setting the CEL? I would be asking them what codes it setting. (Or reading it myself with a code reader) There have been some cats posting on here about the radio issues. Mine froze too but came back on. The box is fairly common too. And the temp sensor? Is it setting a code for that or is it just sitting at 3/4 hot? Is a loaner vehicle available while they look at it? Sometimes that question gets them motivated. A lot of these are built in Mexico. Mine was.

there is no lemon law in canada. Wish there was I had tons of issues with a 2002 ranger, 4 trannys in 2 months ect... but no lemon law...

I hope that they fix your issues and give you a new truck... or trade it in for a ford... I have had issues with my ram also and thinking of switching back to a ford...

cheers

Yeah, that's like adding $5-6k to the cost of your current ride. That doesn't sound like $5k worth of options... Sounds like they are trying to take advantage of your frustration. Nissan did that to me with my Titan, that is why I own a Ram now....

It sounds like the dealer is trying to make you a satisfied customer, but I would wonder if this truly the dealers effort or he was approved to make this offer by RAM rep?

I would go back to the dealer for another conversation ask the above question.

I would again tell him your frustration and the amount of time you have spent running back and forth to remedy obvious factory problems and tell him that in order for you to be made whole, any remedy would have to be at least an even trade,if not more in your favor(discount) for your time and patience in dealing with the ordeal and to have faith in the Ram product.

If the conversation does not go your way, I would let him know how far you are prepared to take the situation to get satisfaction and if you were to be forced to take further steps.

That if you have to go thru all the steps you would not ever be back to buy another Ram product from him.

Also may mention that if you have to get more attention to your problem to get help resolving this lemon you are going to call local news trouble shooter to bring this problem to the public's attention about his dealership and Ram not willing to make good on what is clearly a lemon. I have done this.

Remember as emotionally charged as the situation is cooler heads prevail.

Good Luck, I hope it goes your way in the end and you are happy .

As I have said I do not know what if any lemon laws Canada has,or what the steps are.

A lot of what I have posted still applies to get dealers and manufactures to do the right thing, even with no actual lemon laws to speak of.

So with that in mind I did some research and this is for The USA people here on RF.

This also posted for those of you Canadians' who did not know of this process!

Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan

The Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP) is a binding dispute resolution program that allows consumers who buy cars in Canada to resolve problems with car manufacturers and dealers. The CAMVAP covers vehicles bought and leased in Canada, including cars, trucks, SUVs and vans. The program is used to resolve disputes about car manufacture and quality, or problems with vehicle warranties. To be eligible, a vehicle must have fewer than 160,000 kilometers and be from a current model year or from one of the last four model years. Used vehicles are covered by the program, but only if they are still covered by the manufacturer's warranty. CAMVAP is intended to be used by the average person. No special legal knowledge is needed, and the process is free to the consumer. Once you have decided that your dealer and manufacturer are not resolving the problem to your satisfaction, you can file a petition with CAMVAP for arbitration. Within 70 days, there will be a hearing before the arbitrator, attended by the consumer, and the dealer or manufacturer (or both depending on the problem). You must agree to abide by the arbitrator's ruling and agree not to take the matter to court afterward.
