I was at my dealer today getting a couple recalls...Just went perusing the lot, checking out the trucks. Of course this one caught my eye...Its got a “6in Premium lift” (read spacers)... On 37x12.5x20’s...sticker of $68k.
3.21’s....and the inside sidewall of the front tires is 1/4” off the spindles...
WTF?

Oh I get that, but why build it off if a truck with 3.21’s and with wheels w/ backspacing that have such a tight tolerance against the spindle... it was scary...just diesnt mske sense. Oh and the premium lift was $6,999.00 dealer adjustment.

Yet, when you go to trade in a customized truck they give you nothing because they claim it's hard to sell. Well, yeah, sure is when you mark it up like that. Why would anyone pay full price, sometimes more for all those mods. When you pay full price for mods, it is every little detail you want, just not going to find that buyer, waiting for a sucker to come along.

And they will find one!

Lots of morons in this world. Some of them have too much damn money. That guy will be attracted to the "shiny lifted truck" and have no idea what it should cost. He won't care 'cause he invented a piece of software that does something special, giving him loads of bread and he wants to be "da MAN wit da TRUCK!".

SOLD to the dummy in the plaid sneakers and the skinny jeans.

Have you read some of the threads started in the lift section ? There are a lot, and I mean a lot of people with no clue what’s involved in lifting a truck ... And that’s OK ... But at least do a little reading on here before you start another “Tell me how to lift my truck” thread ... There are a ton of those dealer lifted trucks here in Ohio ... And they don’t sit long

My dealer in Houston always has a few lifted trucks for sale, but they are always the cheapest Rough country kits. They sub contract that out to the lowest bidder in town, whatever they charge the dealer, the dealer double/triples that extra cost and add it to the trucks price then they can reduce it and you actually pay almost MSRP for the truck and retail for the lift kit/tires/wheels. However people buy it because they roll that cost into the payment during financing. Having that lifted truck out front draws people in too, you may not buy that one, you may just buy a reg truck but it got you to pull in and run some numbers......mission accomplished because he we are talking bout it lol

I know a few guys that have bought lifted trucks off the lot. There's actually a dealer a few hours away that also owns an off road shop so guys can have the dealer put in whatever they want and put the whole works into the sale price and financing. Popular with guys who don't have the cash to modify after and guys who use their vehicles for business and can't write off a lift kit, but can write off a truck that already has one.

Oh I get it...id consider it if the stars aligned and I know the mfg and installer. Just this lift/wheel offset looked like ****. Less than 1/4” spindle to inner sidewall was kinda shocking. And 3.21...

I guess they wanted to keep the stick out to a minimum so they don't have to put on flares. Maximum profit on a truck that didn't have a favourable option package I'd guess.
