To see how use full all this emissions crap is, just look at government spec vehicles

Since 2019, the change interval is 15000 miles or 12 months for both oil and fiel filters.

I will never again have a dealer or quick change place change either. Their labour charges more than double the cost of oil and filter change and six times my cost for fuel filters.

Most important thing is to stay away from the cheap knockoffs on Amazon (usually Chinese made) but there are quality ones on Amazon as well, definitely cheaper than most mopar dealership prices.
If you can DIY and use good oil and filters, its a win-win. You can find OEM from a reputable source cheaper than the local dealer on the web and Benny on the forum. Dealer is good in a pinch, quick change place is never a good choice. I would run with what I have before I trust one of those places.

I have considered using the truck as a business, delivering RV's, but from what I've heard those guys don't make a living, just cover expenses.

I deliver rvs. I do it on contract for a vancouver island rv dealer. I do make a living at it, but I do need to have two runs a month as a minimum to do that ever since I upgraded from my (paid for) 2022 3500 srw to a 2024 3500 drw. But that was my choice and I am happy with it.

As for doing it for the companies based out of the Elkhart area, I really don't know how often their drivers get jobs without hanging out onsite waiting.

What I do know is that almost all of the companies there require the truck to be legally rated and insured for a gvwr of 26,000. And while that 2014 Tradesman sounds great for you, it likely only has a gvwr of 24 or 25 thousand. That's according to the 2014 2500 tow guides that I could find.

Now I'm not saying you can't do it if you decide to, just that you might have to go bigger to do so, and that might not be in your financial wheelhouse

GCWR. That's what I meant. Max truck and trailer can weigh together.

I think if I was going to buy a truck for any kind of medium duty hauling, I would go with a Freightliner FL70 or Pete/KW 330 or similar, with a sleeper.

The only reason I bought mine pre-deleted, was that it had only 60k on the odometer and then I had someone go through it. It was a super solid truck with a crap tune. I've taken care of it since then and retuned it along with a built 68RFE. It's not dogged by any means, and I typically drive like someone's grandpa (because I am one). I use the truck for towing and commuting about 20 minutes away each day. I intend to drive this thing till the doors fall off or it just gives out. I went with a tuner up in Canada and they did a great job. I'm not a fan of emissions equipment at all.

I bought mine, it had 100k on it, everything seemed stock, probably was. I deleted and tuned shortly after I noticed a significant increase in everything. mpg appear to be better, power is night and day. I used to run rvs from elkhart to different dealers, the rules seem to have changed and it may not be as easy anymore. but at the time I had 250k insurance and I was good to go. when I did it I was making enough to pay lots of bills and do upgrades but I stopped before all the covid stuff wound out and made it a pain in the ass. mine I did a lot of work, I figured spend the money while the spending is good, head studs built transmission, and many supporting things the tune is a canadian company, easy to work with seems to be pretty decent tune if the actions of my truck are any indication. I try to stay out of the power as much as possible as it comes with many downsides starting with need for new rubber......
