I had the 35D recall done last week, which updates instrument cluster software. I hadn't had any issues with the instrument panel cluster (that I know of), and everything works normal after the update.
Interestingly though, after this update I've noticed a demonstrably better shifting quality / power delivery. Since taking delivery (new) , I've noticed that power delivery has been inconsistent with this truck at low speeds. For instance, taking off from a start was sometimes starkly non-linear, resulting in quick acceleration without much pedal pressure. It seemed that the transmission and the turbo controller weren't always "playing nice" with each other--downshifts would be quick, and turbos would come in like I was flooring it.
There's no indication in the work order that anything other than the 35D recall was done, but I've driven the truck for over a week now and it's definitely easier to drive at low speeds (higher speeds were never an issue). I'm thinking that either the tech had to reset the ECU (resetting the learned driving habits), or Ram is secretly updating ECU / transmission software to improve drive quality.
Has anyone else noticed this? If there are any Ram techs on here, does Ram sometimes perform software updates if the vehicle is in the shop for something else, without notifying owners?
