I just so happened to notice that OPT-7 no longer lists any of the FluxBeam bulbs or any headlight bulbs on their site anymore. They are also removed from Amazon, eBay, etc.

Anyone know why they completely removed all headlight bulbs from the market? It seems they had invested ALOT of money into the newer FluxBeam-X bulbs, most likely a ton of Research & Development into making them, it just seems odd that they would stop selling them when i know for a fact they had some a couple hundred thousand sets of them.

Wondering what happened. Does anyone know?

That is very strange. I am thinking perhaps they lost their DOT certification for all headlight products? That would account for the total removal of all headlight products while leaving tail light and off-road products on the site.

None of those led kits are DOT approved or compliant. If they say so, it’s a lie.

My guess is maybe someone had them installed and they blinded a driver and caused a death and they are dealing with a wrongful death lawsuit and pulled all of them until the outcome is decided.

I can’t think of any other reason, I mean clearly they were profiting millions a year and now, the rest of their entire product lineup probably doesn’t even equal the sales of just their fluxbeam leds.

Good point. Must be something drastic to make a company pull all of a product line across all channels.

I’d say that the fluxbeam lineup (all versions) probably accounted for 75%-80% of their net profits. Take all of that away, and a company with a net sales of $6 million a year, is now only at $1.2 million to $1.5 million a year. That’s a major loss and there’s no way they just decided to stop selling that lineup.

It has to be some sort of legal action to cause them to pull such a winning product from every market.

....or maybe you could just email them and ask about it like I did. Here’s the response....

“We are currently out of stock as we have actively focused on dealing with quality issues with our current parts vendors. We have chosen to not compromise our product quality even if it means not being able to sell FluxBeam LED Conversion Kit. That said, we’re actively working towards an update; however, recent shut downs in manufacturing and the ports due to the corona virus definitely isn’t helping our situation. We have put all interested parties on an active notification list! Thank you!“

....or it could be Murder Hornets!!!!

Well, that was an easy fix...and makes sense to me. But, if their customers were on the notification list one would think that the sites would have made some kind of mention of that perhaps? Maybe like "This item is on backorder with no guarantee of when it will be back in stock"? Just maybe?? My Cover Craft dash cover is on backorder but I knew it when I ordered it from Amazon because they had that identified. At least they notified folks rather than just pulled their availability altogether.

Notification list my ass... I have bought from them, even spoken to higher ups about products and manufacturing a few years ago, I am most definitely on their mailing list and I just searched my gmail for “opt7” and no emails in a long time from them.

Either way, thanks for solving the question.

I had the opt7 fluxbeams for my fog lights. They were JUNK!

They interferes with my Sirius radio and the resistors didn’t help.

If you need bulbs...Look on YouTube for HeadLight Revolution and these guys do great compares on all light bulbs.

Thats so weird, i bought their tailgate bar in 2016 and it lasted in harsh NorthEast weather, snow and ice storms, up until September 2020. I even moved it from my old Ram to my new one and it never gave me an issue. It actually still worked but the wiring broke at the trailer connector and i didnt want to hardwire it or else it would still be going.

Because it lasted 4+ years, i ordered their newest version, the 3 (maybe 4?) row with sequential turn signals and i love it. Opt7 really nailed it with the build quality, longevity and brightness with their tailgate bars. Alot of people hate their LED headlight bulbs but their tailgate bars are some of the best sold.

Got an Update: After several emails (9 back and forth with 20+ pics). They are sending out a replacement. What they think happened (blamed covid?) that my shipping label was put on a returned product box and shipped to me. I will update everyone once I have it and install it.

The company suddenly closed its doors in 2019, leaving customers and employees alike wondering what happened.

The truth is, we may never know exactly what happened to Opt7. However, there are some theories as to why the company went under.

One possibility is that Opt7 simply couldn't keep up with the competition. LED lighting is rapidly growing, and many new companies are constantly popping up. With so much competition, it can be hard for a company like Opt7 to stay afloat.

Another possibility is that Opt7 made some poor business decisions, ultimately leading to its downfall. For example, the company may have invested heavily in new product development without adequately considering the costs. This could have put Opt7 in a difficult financial position, making it difficult to stay afloat.

Whatever the reason for Opt7's demise, it's clear that the company was once a leader in the LED lighting industry. Its products were known for their quality and innovation, and its employees were passionate about their work.
