Anyone know what kind of sensor this is on the driver side mirror? Looks like a temp sensor but one little rock and this thing is toast...

That's the temp sensor for outside temp. My truck had it also. I installed towing mirrors so I had to pull it out of the mirror and put it in my towing mirrors.

Kind of what I figured, just seems pretty vulnerable there.

i think 2012 and before has it right behind the grill like 3rd gens and the 2013's have it on the mirror. i guess it gives a better reading instead of it being right next to the engine bay

Is that why all the '13 guys are saying their temp reading is off?

My temp is dead on when compared to a digital thermometer.

I wonder why they put it there? In black plastic with direct sun?? It's usually in the grill out of the sun and where the fan will move outside air over it even at idle.

In the mirror if you're in traffic or moving slow with no air movement, that thing would bake.
