I have noticed this since I bought it last year. Took the truck in to be detailed after I got it and it seemed to stop for a couple weeks. I can wash the truck and then it rains and these streaks are back. Anywhere there is plastic trim I have this issue. When I got the truck it had these too which is why I spent money to have the paint detailed. It's the worst after a rain. I can run my finger across and it comes off. Truck is from Canada so could this be from the tar sands? Anything I can do to make the crap stop?

Are you applying something to the plastic when you wash it - like Armorall or similar product?
Nope. Been doing that since I bought it too. I also don't see it when I wash it. Seems to only happen are a prolonged period of rain like a couple hours or a day.

When I was young and stupid I had a Ford with a black vinyl roof over Daytona yellow paint which I booted blacked. It did this for ever, even after cleaning treating etc etc. I bet that someone did similar years ago and still coming off.

I recently used a black trim cleaner and brightner and same thing happened. I then bought a bottle of rubbing alcohol wiped it all down and then bought a black trim dresser was spendy, now good to go.

It’s just the residue left behind by the dirt/ dust that gets lodged in between those tight areas. When water gets in there it will continuously run down until there’s no water left. Because the water is mixing with dirt it leaves the black streak behind as it runs down the panel.

Looking more closely at ur pics it looks like the truck is used on an unpaved surface. Possibly on a regular basis? Living in Arizona I get remnants of dirt down the sides of my truck; just not to that extreme.

You can possibly use a paint safe cleaning to put in a foaming sprayer solution (both available from Chemical Guys) for application. Once the foaming solution starts working it’s magic use a hose, pressure washer (low pressure), or car wash hose to rinse the area out from time to time.

Think that’s more of what’s going on vs. sealing in any plastic dyes with aftermarket products to prevent run-off. Just my suggestion based off the pics and info you provided.

You gotta quit watching CNN or whatever news channel you appear to get your bogus info from. BTW they haven't been called tar sands for probably 40 years now, they're the Oil Sands, and they're cleaner then most drilling rigs are. That's like me buying a truck out of Washington state and blaming the drilling rigs in Texas for it's issues.Damn Dude you gotta do some research,as very few trucks from Fort Mac or Northern Alberta and Northern Saskatchewan go into the States, and that's where the Oil Sands are located, they don't cover all of Canada like it appears you think they do.

I would think the last guy put some wax or protectant crap to brighten up all the bk plastic and its coming off. that is what you need to clean, not the white paint.

Get served burnt toast for breakfast ****... And the truck was bought from Legacy Dodge in Fort McMurray and housed in Anzac for a few years before making its way over to Michigan then Wisconsin in 2023. Also has 55% idle to drive time. So oh I don't know maybe it was driven there? But I guess I watch CNN so what do I know.

What would you suggest to clean it off without damaging the trim?

You're still very misinformed about the Oil Sands. I suspect your cleaning ritual is to blame for the streaks, run it through your local coin-op carwash and wash the hell out of the trim, and use the wand to wash out the base of the trim ,any containments will be forced out from the trim then, and a try a differant product on the trim as whatever you're putting on the trim to keep it black probably has more to do with your streaking issue, then where the truck came from.

I don't use trim dressing on the truck. I don't even use tireshine. If anything I'll use some 403 on the dash and that's about it. Learned my lesson with the last truck that trim dressing usually just makes things worse. As for the dinojuice silicon particles, it was a question. A simple no would have been fine not a diatribe.

By your other post it sounds like you need to up your level of cleaning. The dealer you bought it from probably used some type of product on it,and that probably has more to do with your streaking issues then anything

I was not referring to you , but the last guy, as W one said the dealer may have sprayed stuff on it, I have no suggestion other them soap and water and hi pressure soap at car wash.
Spray 9 will take a lot of stuff off, bugs tar, but don't let it dry on the paint.
check at auto stores, there will be something I would think to clean black trim.

My BIL and SIL both worked at Fort Mac, yrs ago, and I never seen anything out of the norm on their trucks. One was fire man, sil work in Cat warehouse, so not in the mines.

It is damn cold in the winter, so lots of idling in the winter I suppose, if it was a company truck . I know a fellow in the oil patch in south Sask with 2500 diesel and that is never turned off when he is checking wells.
