Check the Evaporative System Integrity Module. My light wouldn't go off. changed this and it's off now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU3xREoOj4E

The 2009 Dodge Ram may have the Purge Valve located just under the Battery
Both of them are more likely to set the Gas Cap Light to come on, than the actual Gas Cap
