Im sure this info is out there somewhere, but for the sake of time i will just ask.

Is there a particular product that anyone can recommend for making the plastic pieces on my truck black again? Mainly the little piece that the antenna attaches to. Truck being referenced is a 4th gen RAM. The truck is a couple years old now and some things are starting to turn a little more of a dark grey than the original black. It wouldn't be so noticeable, but my truck is black, so it looks pretty nasty. I would prefer something that didn't grease up the surrounding areas like crazy. I know thats what the products i know of would do. Just trying to possibly learn something new and bypass any further issues.

Thanks for any feedback on the subject.

Wolfgang exterior trim sealant, cquartz Dlux, car pro PERL, Gtechniq C4 are all good choices.

First off, you need to clean all of your rubber or black trim. You need to remove any old dressing still on there. I use Adam's All Purpose Cleaner to clean trim.

Once clean and dry, I use Adam's Super VRT Tire & Trim Dressing to not only restore my black trim, but also to protect it. VRT has SP35 built in, which will prevent your rubber/plastic from drying, cracking and browning from the sun.

Eric laid out some great information above regarding making sure the surfaces are decontaminated first. Surf City Garage Professional Exterior Trim Conditioner is going to be a great choice here.

Key Items to Note about This Product:

  • Water Based.
  • Doesn't attract dust.
  • You can dilute it out to your level of shine, instead of only the one option right out of the bottle.

Because it's a conditioner in addition to just a dressing, it will help keep your trim supple, rich, free of contamination, and look great at the same time.

Please remember that this section is sponsored by vendors that sell detail supplies. There are numerous products available, do your research and choose the product best suited for your particular application. See both autogeek and autopia for a wealth of information regarding detailer supplies used by professionals. There are also many many U Tube presentation regarding the use of detailer products. This is not to say the sponsoring vendors don't have excellent products, there are just many choices out there.

Hey thanks man. I honestly had no idea that this section was sponsored. Definitely ensures a quick and well explained answer! lol

Like I said, I will be checking things out and moving forward accordingly. Nice to have a couple other go to sites for specific questions, so thanks for that info as well. I figured i would start in a place thats familiar with my truck and go from there. Looks like its opened up some more doors for info already. :)

I am not a sponsor, and detail supplies don't put bread on my table, simply have fun doing it on the side. Any advice I give you is from me using the products and feedback from others.

After re-reading your original post, I would like to answer one of your issues. Adam's Super VRT is safe on paint and will wipe right off, not leaving a residue on surrounding areas.
