I bought a Ram Hemi rcsb 4x4 in the last month but it did not come with a window sticker with all of the options mpg's etc. I asked the salesman 3 times for it and being new he hummed and beat around the bush but did not come up with it. After the purchase I noticed that the Sport was supposed to come with a Sport performance hood, mine is just a regular black hood. I asked the sales manager were I could get my hands on the window sticker and he said they throw them away but the girls in service could print me up a copy that had all my options.

I asked the girl in service for a copy which she cheerfully said no problem. With all the options on the Sport it took me a minute but sure enough mine is supposed to have the performance hood. I take the copy to the sales manager and he says "we only made 621.00 on your sale so you are not entitled to one" to which I said something like "********" Then he said you bought the truck like the way it currently sits so again you are out of luck. If I had received the window sticker I may have noticed it was lacking the proper hood yes.

The parts girl who is great took my issue to the parts manager and hopefully they will come through for me. My truck was manufactured in Aug of 2013 so I figure someone bought a black truck with the regular hood and wanted a black Sport hood so they took mine.

What would you do in this case. Thanks for any replies in advance. :favorites13:

The sport hood is an option on the sport model. It is, I believe, about a $1,000.00 option. If your window sticker is showing that option, then you have a legitimate gripe.

I just reread your post and it seems you say it was listed on the sticker. The sales manager sounds like he is being a real a** about it. Talk to the general manager of the dealership and escalate it from there.

The one problem you have is that you did purchase it the way it sat. I guess the lesson is, don't ever sign on the dotted line until you make sure every thing you is bought is there.

You can look up your Vin and see what options the truck had when it left the factory. It has been posted on here before on how to do it so you might want to do a search for it.

Sounds like a real shady sales team you are dealing with. I would be very careful in doing any business with this dealer in the future. You may want to talk with a lawyer about your options about this also.

Also it is to bad they only made $621 on the deal, if it was me and it is listed on the sheet I would demand my sport hood and they could suffer the loss.

One question I just came up with about your purchase, did any of the paperwork say "As is"?

Not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but you did see the truck before you bought it and saw that it did not have a sport hood on it. If you wanted a sport hood so bad, why didn't you try to talk one into the agreement when you were negotiating for the truck?

So to answer your question, I would just be happy with the truck with what was on it (or in this case, not on it) when it was purchased.

I do agree that you should have never signed anything without looking the build sheet over don't let dealerships push u around they r working to get your money you don't work for them the r are a million chrysler dealerships out there but it also doesn't matter how much they make off of you it's not your problem they r a horrible dealership that can only turn around 600 on a 45000 truck you paid your 1000 for it and it's rightfully yours you technically lost more than they did if they dealership won't budge the next step would be to open a claim with chrysler I'm not exactly sure how that starts but I'm sure someone else can help with that but after that it's probably a lawyer and by then you have spent more on that then the hood is worth...I'd still go through with it just to spite the dealership but that's me lol

Did you buy it used or new? If it's new I would be pushing for the hood from the dealer. Since it's listed in your build sheet. Buy if it was a used truck. I'd say tough luck. The previous owner swapped hoods. So it's not the dealers fault or problem then.

I know a guy that had the same thing happen bought the truck had it delivered no hood. They told hi the sport hoods were back ordered. This may not help you but may be the case and the salesman is just lazy doesn't want to do more work. Pester them they'll come up with it I'm sure no one swapped yours out (is there marks on the bolts heads that fasten the hood?) like I said just go above the salesman sounds like he doesn't want repeat business.

I would push for the sport hood if it is on the window sticker, due to the principal of it. How much profit they make or don't make is not your problem.
If they swapped the sport hood off your truck to another, RAM/Dodge corporate would be VERY interested to know that. That is a big no-no .

Thanks for all the replies guys/maybe girls.

Again the truck is new and with out the window sticker that they claim was THROWN in the garbage I am not sure how I would know about all 100 options.

To the person that said did you not see the truck without the Sport hood all I can say is not being a truck guy really I had no idea what a Sport hood was until I was informed mine was AWOL.

A young lady that works at the dealer had a problem with her mirrors and brought it in, the mechanic said her mirrors were swapped out and another pair installed.

Being new there is no as is to another question.

Again thanks for the replies and the parts counter girl went to the parts manager and will see what he can do.

Not for nothing but since 2010 or literally the last 4 years I have done 250,000+/- dollars worth of business with this dealer so it would be a shame if I walk. If the parts manager can not do anything I will go see the General Manager and failing all else the owner. I would almost think he would like to know how much future business might just walk on down the street all over a 800.00 hood.

It's the principal you know lol

The original window sticker is attached to the vehicle from the factory, the ones printed up by the dealer may be incorrect. You can report the dealership for removing the sticker as it's a federal law for the original window sticker to be present on the vehicle for sale.

I think you can request a build-sheet directly from Ram (not the dealership).

Type your VIN in there and see if the sport hood is listed. If the VIN on your printed out window sticker has it equipped with a sport hood and the equipment listing does I would call ram customer service and let them tell the dealer what to do. Ram is thr one that messed up or your dealer swapped the hoods or your truck didn't come with it. The first two options should be easy to fix. If the truck didn't come that way it is the factory's problem and they will pay for it. If the dealer swapped the hood out ram should force them to pay for a new hood for you.

I have purchased many new cars and trucks and I've never seen one without the window sticker. If the truck shows it came with a sport hood I sure as hell would be making life miserable down at the dealership.

Sorry If the picture isn't the best quality or doesn't show up let me know but this is taken from the bottom of a window sticker I removed from one of my cars like the other person said it's against federal law for anyone besides the owner to remove the window sticker

as far as window sticker being removed maybe Canada has a different set of rules:favorites13: This is the only dealer I have dealt with that takes them off ie the last 4 purchases:favorites13:

When I pull up the vin on this site I indeed show the Sport hood as an option.

Print out that equipment listing and take it into the dealer. They can't argue with it at this point, someone messed up, I'm guessing them since they are fighting you on it.

Sounds like you paid for the hood but didn't get it. That ram owners uconnect thing also shows all the options your truck came with. Dealer doesn't want to work with you go above em. Call their bosses boss. Raise enough stink they'll fix it.

Sounds like the dealer swapped hoods and trashed the sticker on yours so no one would notice. Me personally I would of never signed anything without the window sticker. I don't think you have much ground to stand on you saw the truck you drove the truck you know what you were buying. Next time stand you ground walk on buying the truck if they won't give you something that you asked for especially something easy like the window sticker. Good luck hope you get the sport hood but I won't be surprised if you don't.

I have no idea which way it will go, but my little opinion on this is that regardless of whether he saw the window sticker or not, the vehicle was altered prior to his purchase, so he's entitled to the truck to be optioned the way it was supposed to be. Furthermore, when an alteration is made like that, can it still be sold as a 'brand new' vehicle without disclosing any of the alterations? Put simply, if it was me I would be camped out in from of the general manager's house until he made it right, or at least I'd have Chrysler corporate tight on his tailfin. To me it sounds like a total screw over by the dealer.

Maybe its just me, but he said it listed it as an "option" yes the hood is an option. it does not come on every sport from the factory. Till he has a build sheet that specifically states it was added to the build i would not go to the dealer with guns balzing. Also if the dealer took it off, and without comparing the original msrp with added options vs what he paid, he doesn't know if he even paid for the hood. Maybe they deducted the price of the hood(again if they removed it)
