With regular driving and a 180 tstat I run about 180-185. Towing I might average 190 or so

yep what he said. Mine is usually right around what my coolant temp is running, within a couple degrees either way. That's after the engine is at operating temps. Urs running too high?

My oil temp runs between 210 - 215 normal driving. Coolant runs around 199 - 204, still have stock thermostat. No towing or racing done (not yet anyway). I still have the factory oil in mine, only about 600 miles on the truck. I'm sure it will do better after I change it and switch to full synthetic.

Adams, if you aren't already doing this, put some good synthetic oil in your truck and you should be set. I'm sure you already are running it. That way i will handle the heat alot better than conventional oil.

run about 215 normal 225 to 240 towing at highway speed called the dealer they said that is normal I asked about an oil cooler and was told the motor was designed to run in those temps with that specific oil viscosity for the mds it so don't mess with it. this dealership has always been real good and never had to fix the same problem twice . I am going to switch to synthetic first oil change. I thought about changing the t stat but after talking to by buddies old man who use to built race engines for 35 years he told me 180 or 205 open is open so if the coolant temp is 212 "it aint gonna open any more"
