I have a 2018 2500 CC 4x4 with the 20x8 black appearance pkg wheels. I'm looking at downsizing to 18x9 inch wheels to get more sidewall, and the tires are much less costly. My plan is to go with a 295/70/18 tire, which is 34.3 x 11.6 (Toyo shows 11.8). No lift or level, and I have the OEM flares.

I am trying to determine what offset works best to keep the tires inside the fender well and with no rubbing. I was looking at 18x9 with a +6 or +12 offset, but my understanding is that these may protrude outside the factory flares. Now I'm looking at +18 to +25 range. According to Thuren's website, +18 to +25 is the optimal range.

I've also searched at Custom Wheel Offsets and with that tire and rim size, +18 or so seems to be my best bet.

Is anyone running 295/70/18 tires with 18x9 wheels and what offset are your wheels? Are they inside or at the fender well edge? Do you have any rubbing?

Thanks!

I just went the opposite way as you and moved from 18 to 20 wheels. Based on all of my research here and elsewhere, +18 offset is what you seek (at a minimum). I think that's the sweet spot to keep the factory "flare". I also have the same truck as you with the factory fender flares. I'll let you know as soon as my tires get here

+12mm offset = 1.5" of tire tread outside the wheelwell on an 18x9 wheel & factory flares.

Correct me if im wrong but stock is +19 offset which is 5.75 back spacing. +12 is 5.59 backspacing so 9" wide wheel would stick out ⅛" or so more then stock.
+1 offset on a 9" wheel has a 5" backspacing so that would stick out ¾" more then stock.

Just noticed you have a 2500 so thats different, idk what they come with stock lol

I think stock on an 18" rim is 57mm. I put 17" power wagon rims on that have a 43mm offset. 285/75/17. Are 3/4" inside the top edge of the oem fender flares

Same truck and almost the same problem. About to level by replacing the front bilstein 4600’s with 5100’s to level. Was thinking about 18’s on 37’s and only wanted 1-2” outside the flares, but real concerned about rubbing. Sounds like +12mm offset and 35’s might be a better plan.
