It's a good looking truck and much more capable than any 1500 Cummins swap would be capable of.

A 1500 cummins swap in my opinion is nothing more than a "bragging" build...just to say you did it...like I said, you're not gonna be able to put it through what a bugger truck can take.

It would be like taking a Bentley hood ornament and slapping it on a Ford Fairmont, IMO.

There's a guy on DF who's 360 took a crap in his 2002 2wd and he put a 5.9 12v in it. Took a long time to get all the electrical stuff working right. He used 2500 front coils.

How well does it hold up?

I agree with the general population. It would be cool.... BUT you'd be just as good to buy one and make it like you want it. If you want a single cab short bed, you'd be better to take a 2500 CTD Single cab long bed and cut it in half (its been done many times) vs making your 1500 2wd a CTD.

Just for ***** and giggles though, here is a 3rd gen 1500 CTD

Your best bet would either be a 4BT or a 12V IF you were to do it

that's what i've been looking at, and that was my idea, i didn't want to have all the power of a 5.9, just over kill for me, i just want to be in an elite club where you can black smoke people.

:slap:

That's not what it's all about my friend. Yes, it is fun occasionally when someone is a complete idiot, but it's not all about the smoke.

We all seem to go through that phase to a point, but you will soon see it really isn't why these engines are awesome.

The pure torque and power mixed with the incredible efficiency and reliability is the true meaning of being a diesel junkie.

BUT, it is still a better idea to just get the whole truck with the Cummins already in it vs trying to go through all the work.

well, when i think of cummins, i think of black smoke. but my friend gave me the idea because that's what he was going to do, he decided not to anymore. wouldn't adding a 4bt cummins give me 1. better MPG 2. more HP (will be modded) 3. more torque?

Man I love these treads!
Get a 2500 and have it cut into a shorted if you really want one
A 4bt goes for aroun $4k around here with 12v closer to $7k
It can be done to a 1500, easier on a 2wd IMO as you have a similar suspension to a 2wd 2500
There's a lifted F150 around me, it was pretty cool the first two or three times I saw it

Blatantly rolling coal to be "cool" is pretty frowned upon in the diesel world, well at least here it is haha

i would just like to have the option of doing that, dad's f250 doesn't do that

Well I'll be damned if I can find out now, but I think it took him the better part of 8 months to get everything working. I think it was 2 or 3 before he got the signals in order for the engine to even fire. It was a very clean install though. Sent it to a guy I worked with who had a 2002 with a 4.7 and was thinking about it.

I'm gonna agree with the rest. Don't waste your time and money trying to put a cummins in your truck. If your truck dies scrap the truck and put the money toward a truck designed to handle a cummins. It doesn't look like it up front but in the long run it will cost you less in my opinion
