No, I don't want 3.92, 4.10, or 4.56. I don't off-road, I don't have bigger-than-stock tires, I don't drag-race, I don't tow anything heavy (or anything yet), and I don't have a Hemi. None of those things will change, either. :)

Now that we have that out of the way, does anyone know where I can get a set of 3.55 rear gears for a 2014 1500 cheap? Maybe one of you has just upgraded, or is about to upgrade, and have no further use for them?

I haven't been able to find any vendors selling them either, but I've only tried about a half-dozen or so. Any vendors selling 3.55s?

Call Matt at Moe's Performance. If he doesn't have them maybe he has a vendor that he can get them from cheaper than list price.

You can have mine, buy me some 3.92's. Just for informative purposes. why no 3.92? It isn't exactly a neck snapping gear.

Do 3.92s. That rear end, with your 8 speed, and a CAI+Tuner, that Pentastar would real happy.

Great engine. I have one in a Wrangler.

i would have to guess that 3.55 gears are pretty hard to come up with otherwise Ram would have put them in all the trucks that where suppose to have them, like mine.

How much are you willing to pay for a new set that comes with inner and outer pinion bearings, ring gear bolts and races?

It would raise the RPMs too high to maintain my fuel economy on the freeway. And I don't need a lot, I just need a little higher...the 3.21s are actually tall enough to hurt city fuel economy, because it's harder to get the truck moving from a stop or near-stop.

That sounds like what Moe's would call an "install kit". If that's the case and it's everything that should be needed (barring breakage or other weirdness), I'd be willing to pay proportionally more. What are you asking? :)

honestly the difference between 3.21 and 3.92 is like 1-2 mpg as long as you don't drive it like you're in the Daytona 500

Before you spend any money read this. With the 8 speed and a 3.21 axle you've already got a very low first gear ratio much lower then the 6 speed and 3.92 many people have with their Hemis.
Does Ram need lower axle ratios? • Allpar News

The first 2 ratios are lower than the 6 speeds first ratio and it never catches up until your transmission is in 8th and the 6 speed is in 6th.

Good find.

Many things to consider, "before" you opt for a v-6. Cautionary tale if you are looking for performance.

I actually gained mpg going from 3.21 to 3.92. If youre gonna pay for labor and parts go for 3.92. If you arent racing, off roading, or towing then why do you even want to swap gears? Have you asked yourself that? Seems like a pointless thing to do considering you arent doing any of the things above.

I hear this all the time with the 5.7, especially the 6 speed. The problem is the shift points have the engine bogging or lugging all the time. Especially driving around town, and when the tranny does shift again you are at extremely low rpm. Tow Haul corrects it for me, but this wastes gas for sure. Hard to test because so many factors come in to play, but I believe this 100%. At least equal gas mileage, but I wouldn't doubt gaining a mile or two either. What's better bogging the engine overloading it on gas, or taching a little higher?

On my 4.7 dakota and durango i gained mpg swapping to 4.10. It put the engine crusing at its most efficient rpm which was 2000. The same might be true for my ram.

The change from 2013 to 2014? There was an increase in towing capability those years but the only thing I could find different is a stronger parking pawl.
