Hi guys, I am new to this forum but really hope I can find someone who has experienced the same noise I have in my 2015 ram 1500 hemi. It has just over 10k miles and runs great except for this turbo whine that happens as I accelerate. And I have no turbo haha. I can hear it every time up until I go fast enough where road and wind noise take over. i first thought it was a fan but I really feel like it's coming from engine/ transmission.. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Does the pitch or frequency increase with engine speed or wheel speed? Would help narrow down where it could be coming from.

Also, does it sound like it's directly in front of you, or off to the side? If it's in front, I've got a similar issue that I'm working on resolving. How's your coolant levels?

Coolant levels are normal. Turbo sound increases as RPM gets higher. I can't really tell if it's off to a side of the car, kind of feels like right in the center front. I got a video I tried to upload and but it didn't let me.

I guess it does increases with speed of truck too but I can't hear it after 45mph or so. Also, seems to only happen when rpm gets above 2000.

That almost sounds like it's based on road speed, hard to tell but that's my guess. It's a 2015, take it to the dealer.

Since it is still under warranty, I would just take it to the dealer to check out as it could be the start of something serious.

My truck makes the same noise. Never really thought much about it. It's definitely a transmission wine though.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am going in for an oil change next Saturday and will bring it up. I am not sure if its tranny cause whine is there when I am in P, D or N. Will see.

I took my 2015 1500 in for the whine while reversing. They are replacing the tranny at 36K. Said its a know problem.

So, this was brought up this week and is well documented here. Search for whining noise.

The way the tranny lines are bolted to the radiator frame on the passenger side makes the flow noise resonate against the frame... which is why it gets worse as you accelerate. If its under warranty the dealer will replace the lines with insulated ones.. for anyone who isn't.. you can just remove the 10mm bolt.. put insulation behind it.. and zip tie it to something above.

Why do you think they are replacing my whole tranny and not just the lines?

I get a whistle at hard acceleration. Sounds like it's coming from the intake. Which is stock. Everything works fine so I really don't pay much mind to it.

Still waiting on transmission to arrive dealership.
My service advisor said the noise problem is something that RAM does not want to repair/rebuild just replace.

Wow! That is total ********. The truck must not be your only vehicle. I would be pissed.
The truck is still running and i have been using it. I am glad it wasnt a total tranny failure.
