Hi I posted earlier about a code in regards to what seemed to be a bad thermostat. Anyway the job was done but check engine light was still on. A few days later I topped up the coolant but added a little to much. I siphoned some out of the bottle. Then I got some white smoke from under the hood. It's sporadic and I can't locate any leaks. Good news is check engine light went out. Any ideas on what the smoke could be please.

It's happening when the truck reaches operating temp and by the time I stop and check under the hood it's gone. Constant exhaust smell when the heat is in in the cab

White smoke is typically coolant. Either it's still overflowing a bit when hot or you spilled some filling it.

At least it's coming from under the hood.
I hear coolant 'smoke' coming out the tailpipe is bad. And expensive.

"Expensive" depends on how much wrench work you are willing to do yourself. I've replaced a few headgaskets in the driveway. Wasn't fun but wasn't expensive either.

Coolant may be leaking from the water pump, check the weep hole on the water pump to see if its leaking, any oil leaks on the engine?

Smell inside, check your heater hoses at the firewall and to water pump.
Look for fluid inside on the floor mat
A 13 model you will not have a cabin air filter,? I don't have one on my 14, they would be handy in this case. to look in the heater for antifreeze leaking.
You can cut a hole for one from what I understand.
A exhaust smell was usally a bad heater core back in the day .

Fixed it, my own fault as I didn't put the crossover tube on correctly. New gaskets and correct reinstall. Thanks for all the help
