Took a trip thursday up to the mountains for one of our projects. Filled the tank full and took off at 4am, the road up is a gradual gain of about 6,000ft from my home to the city up north. No big hills in either direction, no big mountain passes in either direction. Speed limit for about 90% of the trip was 75mph, so I was going 85-90 all the way up and all the way back. Only exception was the city highways which are 65-70mph and in town around 50mph. Of the 336 miles I drove yesterday, only about 10 were in town total, and only about 20 were city highway going around 70-75mph. The rest was all staying in 85-90 range.

I left with a full tank, came back with a quarter tank to spare.

Pen and paper said 15.8mpg.

Not to bad considering the speed I was traveling, almost always right at or above 2500rpm and with all the performance mods I have done.... I am happy with it.

I'd be happy with that. Took my truck home to NY when I got back from my deployment, avg speed was around 75mph the whole way. Mileage was right around 11-12mpg...

Thats getting good mileage there. I honestly thing with all your mods the truck has to work less to get the same results. Just think, every intake stroke is bringing in more and every exhaust stroke is pushing out more with less efforort then a stock bumpstick has to do to perform the same way.

That is great mileage at that speed.Congrats.

At 65 mph I can get 18.6 on level ground though.I`m pretty proud of that for a 720 HP truck.

Im thinking the same, follows my mpg philosophy too, the the more efficient you can make it run, the easier it can get up to and maintain a constant speed, the better the mpg's. Im jut glad that even with the constant 80-90mph speeds the whole way its still that high. Usually I get around 16-17mpg in every day driving.

i used to always go 75-80 mph on long trips, but i found that just dropping down to 70 with the cruise control increase mileage significantly. its pretty hard to do here in CA with everyone driving so fast, but it works.
