Why do bed rail caps cover front stake pockets?

As the question asks, why do the bed rail caps cover the front stake pockets?

I don't know why but I cut my 2014 out with a utility knife- not that tough.

I think it's because most will never actually use them, so the covered up solution "looks" nicer. I cut mine out as well and added Bull Rings Front and Rear.

I plugged up the back open ones, keeps rain from getting under bedcover and keeps debris out

I bought these to cover the rear stake pocket holes, worked great. I had to use rubbermallet to tap in since they fit so tight.

I used the same and they worked awesome, filled them before installing Retrax tonneau cover. To the OP's question; because most never use them.
